Update #4: Heading Into the Home Stretch

Posted on March 27, 2011

With 11 days to go and 89% of our goal pledged, we're feeling really good—and extremely grateful! Since Kickstarter is an all-or-nothing deal, this is also great news for those of you who've already pledged, because the odds of getting your temporary tattoo or poster screenprint are looking verrry good.

This coming week is a big one. Tuesday, we'll be sending out the official Call + Response: Textures press release in conjunction with Hamiltonian Gallery. And the posters will arrive in the next few days as well, so keep an eye out for us out pasting them up around town. Calls + Response Through the Ages, our Twitter series, continues, and last but certainly not least, we have guest blog posts coming from Stuart Dybek and Naomi Ayala!

Kira has returned from her trip, but not before snapping more photos of the C+R flier in beautiful Europe-y places. Check 'em out: three from Paris (including Moulin Rouge), and two from Amsterdam. Thanks again, and lots of love!Kira + William

Update #2: Hear from the writers!

Posted on March 16, 2011

Hey everyone, we're gearing up to post the blog posts that the writers composed about their Call + Response experiences (thus far).

The four of them--Stuart Dybek, Naomi Ayala, Srikanth Reddy, and Reese Kwon--each had a different take on what it meant to them. How'd it feel to write and send off piece for the purpose of being interpreted and responded to by someone they'd never met? Are they anxious to see the artwork and meet the person responsible for it?

We're stoked to see how far we've come at this point, and we're ready for a big push to get us to our goal in the next few weeks. Thanks for all your support! And please feel free to chime in with any questions, comments, encouragement, ideas, etc. We're excited to hear from you!

William and Kira are great pals who collaborated on the first edition of Call + Response last year. They met while helping to start 826DC, a youth writing center.

Kira was raised on Florida sunshine and has worked on both a US/Canadian metal tour and the Presidential Inaugural Committee. She has pet bunny named Billie Jean.

William writes and has been published in Colorado Review, Anomalous Press, pacificReview, and Sonora Review. He got a DC Young Artist Grant in 2011, and the reason his earwax is orange is because he sleeps wearing orange foam earplugs.
