How did we get here?

U Stomp Winery was founded in 2011, with a desire to make great wine and to share the experience with everyone. U Stomp Winery offers a hands-on experience in winemaking that provides you with a fun and friendly place to enjoy making wine with friends and family.

The founders love for wine started in Napa Valley, as most do. That experience, combined with a desire and passion to create wine and to share the experience, led to the concept of a community winemaking center. He knew lots of people would love the experience of creating their own wine from fresh award winning grapes from some of California’s most prestigious vineyards. Thus U Stomp Winery was born a place where everyone can get there purple feet.  A place for adults to come relax, have fun and enjoy unbelievable wine!

Now thru U Stomp Winery winemaking is not a private club for just a few it is now available for everyone to enjoy.

So what is a Community Winemaking Center?

As the name implies we support winemaking in the community. We are also here to support everyone that wants to make wine. One thing we have not forgotten is where we started, we know how expensive all the equipment is to crush and de-stem grapes, press grapes, bottle and how hard it is to find grapes in a small quantity so any home winemakers, vineyard owners and farmers that want to make wine we have you covered as well. You will be able to use our equipment anytime and we are able to supply you with fresh grapes to make wine at home if needed.

U Stomp Winery’s Unique Wine Making Facility!
The U Stomp Winery is a unique wine making facility where you along with family and friends you can make Award-Winning Wine. Imagine enjoying the experience of wine making without owning the vineyard or the winery.

U Stomp Winery will be a community winery and winemaking center where you are the winemaker. We will be there to teach you how to make great wine from the grape to the glass. We want everyone to have the opportunity to hand craft their own wine using the best ingredients and the latest technology.

We are focused on small lot hand crafted, ultra premium wines that you make yourself, We emphasizes winemaking techniques that preserve the quality of the fruit created in the vineyard.

U Stomp Winery’s Handcrafted Wines

You hear a lot of talk in the wine business about handcrafted wines. At U Stomp Winery, handcrafted isn't just a word we throw around because we think it will sound good in the brochure or on the web site. We handcraft our wine in small batches just for you to your personal specifications and your tastes, when we say that the wines are handcrafted, we mean it. Our commitment to handcrafted personal wines is one of the things that make the wines we produce for you unique.

Handcrafting means to have the ability to choose varietals from multiple vineyards to ensure the absolute best grapes for you in any given year.

Handcrafting means minimal interference so, from fermentation to bottling, the methods we use to produce the best wine for you do not include any unnecessary processes that would compromise the quality of the wine. We know it takes more time to make wine this way, but we also know wine doesn't like to be rushed. This means paying attention to each one of the steps that go into making exceptional wines.

Handcrafting means letting quality be our guide. There is no pressure to take short cuts, and we don't hurry the grapes or wine along because it does not meet a schedule. Through each step of the process we let the wine tell us when it is ready for the next step. Ready to go into the barrel, ready to come out of the barrel, ready to go into the bottle and ready to be enjoyed.

Our Winemaking Course - Where You are the Winemaker

We will have a winemaking course that you will be able to make wine from start to finish crafted to your specific Tastes. The Winemaking course will happen twice a year, in the fall with grapes grown from all over the west coast and in the spring with grapes from Chile and Argentina. Our course starts you from your choice of Grapes then moves you through the entire process.

Our Steps to Making Your Own Wine

Step 1: Orientation / Grape Selection Weeks before your grapes arrive, attend one of the multiple orientations. This is where it all the fun begins. Join other wine enthusiasts in sampling the varietals available for the upcoming season. We will be on hand to educate you and to help you decide which wine you want to make. Your job is simple, grab a glass, taste some great wines, ask questions and, most of all just have fun!

Step 2: Crushing , Destemming and Fermentation In late summer or early spring (depending on your choice of grapes and Mother Nature) the grapes arrive; then it's time for you and us to get to work! We'll be right alongside you and will teach you how to inspect, sort, de-stem and crush the grapes. Once that is done you'll add yeast to the grapes and You've officially begun making your own wine. You’ll be working with our production-quality crusher/destemmer and fresh grapes to begin the winemaking process.

Step 3: Pressing & Barreling After the yeast has worked tirelessly for one to two weeks, the fermented grapes and must (grape skins) are ready to be pressed. At this time you'll learn how to gently press the grapes and separate the wine from the must. We'll also walk you through how to transfer your wine into an oak barrel or tank depending on the wine you are making. This is also a great chance to sample your young wine and glimpse its potential. Then you practice the art of patience...

Step 4: Barrel Tasting & Racking Approximately 90-120 days after “Pressing” for you to visit the facility for a Tasting & Racking. After a couple of months your wine is ready to be racked. After the wine is first barreled or added to a tank the sediment and spent yeast, collectively called 'lees', settle to the bottom. Racking is the process of separating the wine from the sediment and yeast. This is done by removing your wine from the barrel or tank, cleaning the barrel or tank, and then putting the wine back in, You'll also get a chance to taste your adolescent wine. Again, once this is finished you hurry up and wait. You will also receive instructions on how to create your personalized wine labels in preparation for the next step.

Step 5: Bottling Truly the most fun, active and rewarding step you’ll attend! A few months later, your patience has paid off and your wine is ready to be bottled. We'll take you step-by-step through the process and show you how to fill, cork, cap, and label your wine. Once that is done, pat yourself on the back -- you're now a winemaker!

Your wine is now ready to pack and take home. The best part of all enjoying the great wine you produced yourself.

One unique process that will be available to you as a winemaker is the making of Sparkling Wine. This process gets done in house and as far as I know we are the only winemaking center that will offer the option of making a sparkling wine in-house. So now you can make your own bubbly as well!

Our Wine Appreciation Classes

Is for you to Taste and learn about wine, U Stomp takes an informative and humorous approach to this subject. We will teach you about wine, wine attributes and then (everybody's favorite), tasting

All participants will learn wine tasting basics. We will focus on sampling and understanding the differences between popular white wines and red wines. This class is designed for those wanting to develop a good foundation of wine knowledge and an understanding of how to taste wine.

Our Intro to winemaking Classes

Is a overview for you to learn how wine is made from start to finish and some of the equipment used in the process of makeing wine, this is an informative, fun approach to the wine making process. We will teach you all about the winemaking process. This class is designed for those wanting to develop winemaking basics and an understanding of how wine is made.

So now you ask, How do I Get My Purple Feet?

It’s simple once your grapes arrive you climb into one of the picking bins and stomp away. Trust me it is a truly unique experience. This is an optional thing but fun if you are up for it.

I Often get asked when talking about U Stomp Winery, Why a community winery or winemaking center?

I love winemaking, It is honestly that simple. I love crafting a simple grape and turning it into something special, I want to share the passion and love for crafting great wines with everyone.

So No Matter if you’re completely new to wine, or you’re an experienced winemaker U Stomp Winery will be a place to have a fun, unique, entertaining, and educational winemaking experience in a relaxed atmosphere.

OK so what is the money for?

There are many details and expenses involved in opening a winery. I have the knowledge and the passion all covered. Below you will see what we have already and what we still need.  

Things We Have:

• We have are location with a lease for a year.
• We have all our Applications for Licensing and Legalities with the ABC and TTB…We have applied for all of the required permits, and licenses that are needed for a winery.
• We have a website.
• Designs for our marketing materials
• Some equipment, fermenters, barrels, bins, crusher de-stemer
• We have most of our testing equipment
• Contracts with vineyards for grapes

Things we still need:

• More Equipment fermenters, barrels, bins
• Wine Press
• Materials to construct the winery, lab and tasting room
• Marketing materials

So now what I am asking/begging/pleading of you is some help to complete U Stomp Winery. Your generous pledge will go towards purchasing equipment, and making renovations, that will help bring U Stomp to life.

Two Common Questions we get asked

Will you sell bottles of finished wine?No, we are a community winery & winemaking center, this is a place for you to come and make wine for yourself. We are there to teach you how to do it from start to finish but you are the winemaker.

Will you have age requirements for your courses?Yes. To take one of our wine appreciation classes or our winemaking classes you must be at least 21 years old.
