The most open an accessible record of government spending is now available to the multiple masses.
Death and Taxes is a poster thats 24'' x 36'', or about 6 square feet.

On that poster is 500+ items from the 2012 federal budget request. Each item is sized according to its funding level and shows both the one year and ten year trend in funding.
So for a single item, say the National Endowment for the Arts, I can see it has a proposed budget of $146 million and a proposed cut of 13% for 2012. Also it's grown 48% in the past decade. I can also easily see that it's smaller than just about everything else that the government does.

Now multiply that grain of information by 500 and organize it in a clear and intelligent way, and you have the most open and accessible record of government spending ever to exist.

But this poster is already created, so why the Kickstarter?
This poster was published and released back in October by Seth Godin's Domino Project and Amazon. While individual posters can be purchased, bulk orders cannot.
In order to sell multiple copies or bulk, I have to go outside Amazon, and fund, print, tube, ship these orders myself. While I have offered to do this in the past, it was only for large orders of 100 or more so the economics worked out. The problem is, the people who need the poster, don't need that many. If this project is funded I can secure lower production costs and be able to get small quantities to the people that want them.
Who would want 5 or more posters?
Schools and teachers are the primary group asking for smaller quantities at a discount. School budgets are thin, and even budget literacy has a cost. Even if you are not an educator yourself, consider buying a pack of posters your local school.
Political organizations interesting in educating the public about its priorities are also interested. Looking for gifts for your members? Public out reach? This poster grabs peoples attention.
Companies also are interesting in bulk pricing. I have had orders from companies that work in US-Government relations, tax preparation, and other financial institutions that use the poster for a variety of purposes from gifts to education.
Can I re-sell the poster?
Yes. If you are an independent retailer you may purchase and resell the poster. If you are chain or otherwise large retailer, then you should contact me first. Jess@byJess.net
