I'm a bad person.
But also, it has become a way bigger project than I was ever prepared for. This is my first time undertaking literally every aspect of this novel. I've never written, edited, prepared annotations for, made physical copies of or shipped out a novel in my life, and I am finding I was woefully underestimating the time involved to do this right. I'm in the process of finalizing Rx right now, which means that I've listened to all the feedback, weighed the suggestions, decided where the story should ultimately go, and am making final edits as we speak. There are extra chapters to be written, several chapters to be entirely rewritten, and an epilogue to get to - not to mention the thousands of minor text changes needed before this is considered "done."
I was going to release the annotated edition for the original manuscript, but that doesn't make a lot of sense to me anymore. I figured the annotations should be over and about the final text, otherwise it will be incomplete. This means that I'm stuck making all the final revisions to the book before finishing the annotated edition, and that, in turn, means this big ol' delay you've had. I'm really sorry about that, but the only thing I would feel worse about than misjudging the time frame so badly, is sending out a rushed or inferior product. So the timeframe for the annotated edition is now wholly dependent on the revised edition, which for now, can only be "soon."
Also, a clarification: If you pledged at the $200 level, you've still got a book coming your way! There will be a physical paperback copy of Rx made for the general masses, just as soon as I've finished these revisions. That's the one you'll be getting an acknowledgment in -- the one for general sale to everybody, forever. The one you've got now is the limited edition of the original manuscript - not the edition with the acknowledgments in it. That's still coming to you. I realize that wasn't entirely clear in the reward text.
