I am fascinated with tattoos and symbolism.
I made this design with a number
of influences. The main theme is the relation between art and the divine or
spiritual.
The metallic gold comes from illuminated manuscripts-particularly
the Book of Kells.

To fall from grace is an idiom referencing a loss of status, respect, or prestige. This concept fascinates me and has become part of my visual lexicon in exploring balance-a theme I see in much of my artwork.

This design comes from the Japanese word and kanji for “person”. If you view the character you will see the form is echoed in the design by the 2 figures. The basic idea was that a person is composed of 2 parts; the physical and psychological.

Octopuses are highly intelligent and have 3 hearts. They have both long term and short term memory as well as demonstrating observational learning and play. They are the only invertabrate that uses tools.
In Hawaian mythology, our current cosmos is only the latest – having risen from the wreckage of a previous universe. The octopus is the lone survivor of that previous, alien universe.

In Hindu tantrism one of the seven primary chakras is the Root or Muladhara Chakra. The depiction of this chakra includes the white elephant Airavata, who has seven trunks, denoting the seven elements vital to physical functioning.
One of my goals in life is to meet an elephant.

I was enchanted by snowflakes after reading about them and seeing the pictures taken with microsope cameras. Such complex and beautiful symmetry. They make me think of mandalas; small plans or microcosms of our universe from the human perspective

A nightmare is a frightening dream. The reference and etymology of the word influenced my design choices here- "mare" for a female horse, but only partially represented in a very abstracted form.
I imagine consciousness as the relatively placid surface over an ocean of the subconscious, vast and murky.
This is my “Nightmare” design. It will be a limited edition reward AND one of the Core Line. Glow in the Dark ink printed on American Apparel Fine Knit Organic T-shirts- Black(color) in a full color screen print as the limited edition. The Core Line version of the design will be printed white and green (not glow in the dark) also on the same type of shirts.

This is my “Secret Design”, Winged Skull. It will be a limited reward in my
Kickstarter project, available only above a certain reward level because of the difficulty of printing. Not part of the Core Line. Black ink printed on American Apparel Fine Knit Organic
T-shirts- White(color) in a one color screen print.
The tricky part to this
design is that is has to be 3 separate screens-it means printing one section,
curing the ink, then lining up the next piece so they fit together. Difficult.
But I
think the result is worth it.
