About this project
Scioto Records specializes in 7" vinyl from experimental, modern and outsider artists. We are thrilled to be releasing our next record from Washington DC's avant-pop band, The Caribbean.
Our records will be mastered and pressed at MusiCol Recording in Columbus, Ohio (this studio is famous for recording and pressing the records released by CapSoul in the 1970s, which have been reissued by the Numero Group). Our covers will be printed by Igloo Letterpress in Worthington, Ohio.
While our official Kickstarter goal is $800, we're shooting for $1000, which will help cover the posts for the letterpress covers.
The Caribbean is one of our favorite bands, and we can't wait for the record to be ready and in the hands of their fans. Please help Scioto Records make Release #2 a success!

Scioto Records is proud to be releasing their second 7" single from Washington DC's avant-rock band, The Caribbean. The Washington Post described their latest album, Discontinued Perfume, as "slowly seductive." Pitchfork said they strike "a nice balance between building moody, memorable songs and keeping listeners off balance."
Sure, The Caribbean makes music best described as "indie rock." But that's only part of the story. They continually experiment, searching for off-kilter sounds, building songs from unconventional patterns or structures. The "off balance" feeling that Pitchfork describes is present in almost every song.
The Caribbean's Michael Kentoff describes it well: "We're pop music fans who, in an attempt to personalize and humanize the experience, have crossed over into experimental music or art rock rather by accident. "
