About this project
This winter, a dedicated group of runners will embark on a 125-mile running expedition - spanning the West Bank of the Palestinian Territories. The Run Across Palestine, a project of On the Ground, seeks to raise $100,000 for the fair trade olive farmers in this region. Money raised will go directly to two programs that support olive farmers and their families.
I've been invited to join in the journey. I will accompany the runners, travel to communities and farms, share stories, music and experiences with other musicians, artists and community members. I'll be soaking in the culture of the Palestinian people, supporting the run, acting as part of an educational media team and writing the bones of what will be a new album based on this trip.
The money raised with this kickstarter campaign will pay for airfare, lodging and living expenses during the trip.
Olive trees have been used to represent peace for thousands of years. I'm so excited and honored to be involved in an effort to nurture this peace and to support sustainable community development!

Connected as Joshua Davis (1932 friends)
Joshua is a seamless union of both city and country. The music is steeped in ragtime blues, sweet jazz, real country and cajun, and Davis blends these traditions with his love for gritty rock n' roll and old soul. The result is what Performing Songwriter Magazine calls, "Some of the liveliest and most rocking roots music around".
Davis travels across the country playing at concert halls, old theatres, festivals, clubs, dives, classrooms and parks. He's released a number of albums, including his 2005 solo effort, "Fool Rooster", which earned the album of the year slot from "Progressive Torch and Twang", a cult favorite Americana show on WDBM. He's released five albums with roots-rocking quartet Steppin' In It, one album of jazz standards with Shout Sister Shout, and has appeared on too many albums to count.
Davis has released his second solo album, "Magnolia Belles" this fall. A deeply personal collection of songs, it is the product of two years of writing and recording. Like "Fool Rooster", he surrounded himself with a incredible collection of talented musicians and wonderful people.
Joshua's next album will be based around his experiences traveling to Palestine and Israel with On the Ground.
He lives in Lansing, MI with his brilliant and beautiful wife and daughter.
