A mix of live action and puppetry, OowieWanna is a short film I am directing through the AFI Directing Workshop for Women.

After being bullied about a birthmark on her arm, a young 7-year-old girl falls into a bottomless laundry bag, which transports her to a vibrant other-world. Caught between dueling sisters, she must face her deepest fears and decide between perfection and individuality.

A mix of live-action and puppetry, OowieWanna is an ambitious and exciting project with original songs performed on screen.  The script was co-written by myself, Bridget Palardy, and Danielle Krudy.  The talented Lara Everly and Jermaine Jae will be producing.  Honeycomb's Emily Ritz will be writing the music.  Amelia Brooke will be designing the set.

I'm directing OowieWanna through the AFI Directing Workshop for Women, a non-profit program which provides 8 women per year the chance to participate in an intensive directing lab with working film professionals.   I'm so excited for this opportunity, and I'm confident this will be my best film yet!

We are currently in the midst of pre-production, the next few weeks will be exciting as we finalize set designs, casting, music and more. Our budget for this film is $15,000, and raising 7,000 on Kickstarter is an important and necessary step for making this film happen.  I hope you will join us on this exciting creative adventure!
