In here life is beautiful…” The shutter opens on the decadent world of Weimar Berlin at the dawn of the 1930’s where the morally ambiguous scrape by the skin of their…leg. At the center of this world lies the Kit Kat Klub, a sexually charged nightspot where anything is possible. Blissfully unaware of the rumblings outside, the mysterious and fascinating Sally Bowles and her Kit Kat Girls titillate us with sultry song and dance. Outside the door knocks the inevitable future which sees not only the rise of the Nazi party, but watches as the city divides and will not be reunified until 1990. The Schoolyard takes us on a new journey to Germany. With a revised score inspired by Krautrock, this Kander and Ebb classic becomes a story larger than that of the Weimar era itself. This is the story of a city that spent the better part of a century looking for its identity.WHAT: Cabaret
