The
Paraders is a small business in Chicago that offers high quality
vintage with impeccable style. We’ve created a vintage-style collection
of dresses, skirts, and tops that provide a vintage aesthetic, but with
modern sizing and proportions for ladies of 2012.
If you wear vintage clothing, you no doubt know the troubles of finding vintage that FITS WELL. As a vintage clothing business owner, I’ve seen, felt, and tried on thousands upon thousands of garments spanning from the early 1900s through the 1980s, and have had countless heartbreaking moments when I’ve found the perfect dress that just DOESN’T FIT.
Even
if you find the most amazing dress in the right size, chances are that
the proportions are quite different. Women have been cinching, tying and
altering their bodies throughout history to create these extreme
silhouettes that just aren’t realistic today...the evolution of the
common measurements of a modern woman’s body are quite different from
the insanely skinny waists of the 1950s or the flat chests of the
1920s., so it really makes wearing vintage difficult.
My
goal with the first Paraders original collection as well as with each
collection following, is to take the best elements of vintage clothing
in each era, and create new garments inspired by these examples, but
with a modern sizing structure. For this collection, we're offering sizes Small, Medium, and Large, with the plan to add smaller and larger sizes in future collections.
There are so many creative and wearable vintage styles over the past century that need a revival.

This
is where YOU come in! We need the funds to complete the production so
that vintage-loving ladies can have access to new and improved vintage
styles with a comfortable fit.
I
sourced quality cotton fabrics, and had custom covered buttons made.
Much time and care was placed in all of the decisions regarding
resources and production. I also spent quite some time finding a team
of local, quality-producing professionals to ensure a great final
product.
I took care in creating the pledge rewards for each backer level, and am excited to present to you some unique prizes. I also am open to your suggestions! If there’s something you’d really like to see as a prize, let me know and I’ll try to make it happen!
