If any of you want to see an example of how a Kickstarter campaign should be run, look at Doug Tennapels Sketchbook Archives project. He went above and beyond on updating all the donators through every second of the process. No one was ever wondering what the status was and if they were and they asked him, he would reply, EVERY TIME.. he's incredible. He said he's going to be making new KS projects in the future. If anyone is interested in his work, I would highly recommend getting involved with him. Also, check out the prizes he gave to the donators, it's incredible. Myself and a group of other backers are even getting our names printed in the book as a thank you!

It really is incredible isn't it guys, how unprofessional he's been, it's no wonder that networks don't have any interest in him. Don't get me wrong, he's a very talented cartoonist but he operates like an amateur. He's still active on his blog too, posting pictures of his toy collection and little doodles, yet no kickstarter updates or replies to any questions by fans. If I didn't know better I'd think john K. was an 8 year old child. He's long tarnished his reputation in the animation industry, now he's losing support from his fans and I'm not too sure if he gives a s---.

Kind of feeling burned by more than one kickstarter campaign of late. Lack of communication is the worst thing that can happen though, and this one is another prime example.

Still don't understand why some people got their rewards and others didnt either?

I kind of keep forgetting I have multiple kickstarters backed that are way past the due date because I never get updates anymore. :(

I am also becoming a bit concerned. We were told Feb as an expected date...and now it sounds like we are waiting for a TV series to come out now instead? WHat happened? wheres the dvd? Updates?

Thanks Ted. I am indeed in the $51 tier. I have contacted John several times but he eventually stopped replying months ago. I know he had an update where he asked people if they received them but it seemed like a lot of people had not. I was just wondering if anyone had actually received them or if we were all waiting.

Hopefully we can sort all of this stuff out.

Daniel, those of us in the $51 and $71 tiers got our drawings in (I want to say it was November), since we had had a September date listed. But one of the 4/18 updates said there will be no (more) rewards delivered until the cartoon is done. So, yes, some of us have gotten rewards, but unless you were in the $51 or $71 groups, yours shouldn't have shipped yet.

@Daniel John K. has been really awful through out this whole campaign. He rarely if ever responds to the donators questions. I tried to contact him months ago to change my address because my home was destroyed during hurricane sandy last year, he never answered. He completely betrayed everyone of us by claiming he was going to make this cartoon with our money and not have any networks involved. He really couldn't care less about any one of his fans that supported him, he's an ego maniac and a truly awful human being.

I'm through trying to contact him at this point, now I'm looking into taking it up with kickstarter and see what type of action they can take against him. I hope that some of the other donators will join me in filing my claim against him. Don't be blinded by your love for ren and stimpy or whatever it is you like him so much for, he's taking advantage of all of us.

Nobody seems bothered by the fact that you're not fulfilling your end of the deal you made with the donators. From the looks of it, it seems that instead of creating a cartoon directly for the fans with no corporate middlemen. You instead took OUR money to fund enough of your project so that you could present it to networks, now were all waiting around for you to hear back from them before you continue production. On top of all of this you stopped updating any of us on what was going on even though you're MONTHS past the estimated delivery date, this is the first we're hearing from you in months. From the looks of what you've completed so far and knowing how slow you are to produce a cartoon, it seems like it would be a miracle if it were done by Feb. 2014 at this point. It's a shame that most of your fans are too in love to notice, but I really hate being taken advantage of. You really should have told us that you had no plans on creating the cartoon with OUR money and this was just a way for you to find a network that would want Cans. If you were honest in the beginning I'm sure you still would have been able to collect funding.

john.....darrell here. am working on my own projects right now, so can share with you (spiritually if not figuratively), the fun of dealing with the 'bumps and grinds' of putting material together......though at least you've got the probable 'net tie-in." me.......i'm past that now.....would rahter launch my own, 'specially since the tools are there now to (not easily, of course), make it happen. got your 'reward' several months ago, so at leaat i received mine. well.....keep on a 'pluggin' and keep us informed. back to woik.....me

My mom wouldn't let me watch Ren and Stimpy when I was a kid. She also wouldn't let me play Mortal Kombat or Magic: the Gathering, because all of that was filth. Fortunately for me, she was a dental assistant, and one day she overheard me discussing the Tooth Beaver with a friend while we brushed our teeth. I let her watch Ren's Toothache, and after that, I was allowed to watch Ren and Stimpy.

I'm sure you've all seen the update, but John said he would be sending out some of the drawings next week (at least the storyboards. I got lost in daydreams after I saw that). So all's good in that regard.

@ J.M. If you're expecting something in the near future, you should have been sent a survey asking you your address and other relevant details. If you didn't get that, send a message to John for more information. If your prize isn't supposed to come for several more months, I wouldn't worry about not getting the survey yet. It'll likely come closer to the delivery date.

Hi John,

I am a backer at the $60 level and I am aware you are sending out the doodles next week. I don't know if this is too much for you but I was wondering if you could send a doodle with Sody Pop. I know you have a lot of people to send doodles to and it would be easier to randomly stuff these envelopes with a random doodle from the pile, but perhaps you can set a Sody Pop doodle aside for me and send it over when you can? Not sure if that is possible but I thought I would ask.

Looking at the estimated delivery of everything, they all say feb 2013 except for the story pages, so maybe John put September by mistake on that one? but I do agree. There is a bit of a lack of communication going on.

I'm starting to get a bit annoyed at the complete lack of communication from John Kricfalusi. I'm sending the following message to him:

John,

This is in regards to the storyboard pages for "Cans Without Labels" that had an estimated delivery date of September, 2012 (over a month a go) but have not yet been sent out.

I have no problem with delays or unexpected difficulties, but you need to communicate with your funders about what's going on. If I don't hear from you regarding the storyboards, I will at some point contact my credit card company about the matter, and I may ask them to initiate a chargeback. I really don't want to do that, but I dislike being left in the dark.

I do hope that everything works out amicably, and that "Cans Without Labels" turns out as amazing as I believe it will.
