About this project

The Gray Wolf Graphic Book project is an international artistic collaboration to produce an illustrated story of the gray wolf in North America. The book will tell the story of the gray wolf from its evolution, ecological role,  eradication from western states to its reintroduction in the West. The story of the Gray Wolf is still unfolding today with the species delisting from the Endangered Species Act in 2011 and as debate continues over wolf management with population increase and expansion of their range into new states. The book will be illustrated in the style of a graphic novel and will appeal across generations. The book will tell the story like it is, based on true events through quality illustration.

The illustrator for the project is Ramón Acedo, a free lance illustrator & architect based in Madrid Spain.  Ramón has a passion for wolves and his illustrations are infused with emotion that truly bring wolves and western landscapes to life through the use of traditional and digital illustration techniques. The illustrations will be highly detailed and will allow each page to stand alone as a work of art. The concept for the book and script was developed and written by Noah Bates, a rangeland ecologist based in Colorado, United States.

The book will be the inaugural publication of Earth Illustrated Press, an independent publisher owned and operated by Noah Bates that creates illustrated books with ecological themes. The book will be printed in hard copy in a limited edition initial press run and will also be made available as an e-book for retail sale. We are working on a tight budget and our goal is to raise $4,500 in 45 days that will be matched by personal funds and divided between illustrations, first press run and e-book formatting. The book is scheduled to be released in November 2012.

We hope you are inspired to contribute to this project and help make the book a reality.

You may keep abreast of project developments at the website of Earth Illustrated Press. Visit the project on Face Book and share it with your friends!

Sincerely,

Ramón Acedo & Noah Bates
