Erica Smith and the 99 Cent Dreams recorded a jazz record! Help us launch it!
New York band Erica Smith and the 99 Cent Dreams has taken a bit of a left turn from our usual left turns of folk/pop/country/psychedelia -- we made a jazz record culled mostly from the Great American Songbook.
We rehearsed and recorded this short album more or less in seclusion, having played only one jazz gig ever: to a late-night Tuesday audience stoned on milk and cookies. They liked it, and so do we, and so will you.
We are committed to releasing this record in 2012. It's a testament to the excellence of the musicians -- in particular our brilliant drummer, Dave Campbell, whom we lost in 2010 -- and probably will be our last album for awhile (Erica is dropping her next release, a baby boy, in January).
