Capitol Science is a lo-fi sci-fi soap opera; musicians and artists meet interdimensional drama.
Capitol Science is a fun parody world of our contemporary habitat, one that lampoons a much-maligned amalgamation of Brooklyn neighborhoods that have been populated by artsy, trend-setting transplants. We envision a different look at gentrified Brooklyn neighborhoods - one in which the musicians and graphic designers trade their fixed-gear bikes and tight pants for vintage science equipment and tailored, white lab jackets. But, in the vein of up-and-coming neighborhoods everywhere, the vibe that makes the local scene edgy and full of life - the mom-and-pop lab suppliers and artisinal apothecaries - is being threatened by a sinister, inter-dimensional group bent on devouring the local identity for their own subversive purposes.
Our series, filmed on location in Brooklyn, NY, has already begun. We have produced our pilot episode (Episode 0). We managed it with a meager budget, and were acutely focused on following through with the concept all the way to its inception. We've begun the pre-production phases for the next four episodes in a 7-episode season, including the script, location scouting, and casting, but the hardest steps are still ahead of us: production and post-production.

We're a group of friends and creators who have met one another since moving to Brooklyn, NY. Musicians, video makers, builders and cooks - we're all semi-pros who like to get weird, and in the process hopefully tell some meaningful stories.
Our company, the Cannery Collective LLC, sees a void in the myriad carbon-copy pieces of entertainment that is commonly consumed. We feel there is a void for production firms to fill - producing content in an economical and progressive fashion by making a multi-faceted entertainment machine capable of putting out some truly independent and original material.
The Cannery's first plan of action is our edgy lo-fi sci-fi soap opera Capitol Science, and we are looking for help to further create this world.
By the end of February, 2012, the Cannery Collective is planning on having the first four episodes filmed, and ready to move into post-production. We are planning on filming our scenes in about twenty days, and have the first Episode ready by April 1st, 2012, with the subsequent episodes appearing every three weeks. Any additional funding not used for the first four episodes will be put toward the last three. With your support, we hope to produce the 1st season with money we earn entirely from this campaign.
