About this project
We are seeking financial support to cover the cost of production of a new site-specific installation to be on view at Black & White Project Space in the spring of 2011.
Twice a year we award the Black & White Project Space Prize. Prize recipients have the unique opportunity to create and present a new site-specific installation at Black & White Project Space. Additionally the Prize offers a studio residency and other critical resources. The length of our commitment to each winner is six months, three months for a studio residency and three months for an exhibition. The selection criteria is based on the innovative nature of the proposal for a new work and its suitability for realization at Black & White Project Space. Only proposals from artists nominated by a member of our Curatorial Committee are accepted for consideration.
The Spring 2011 Prize Winner will be announced in December 2010. The winner will create a new site-specific installation while in residency at Black & White Project Space during winter of 2010/2011. The installation will be on view for three months immediately following the residency.
Located in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, Black & White Project Space is a non-profit art organization committed to production, presentation and promotion of innovative and audience-engaging site-specific installations otherwise in danger of under-representation. Our mission is to preserve and further develop the creative environment by bringing socially conscious art to a wide audience and offering substantial resources to artists shaping contemporary visual culture in the field of site-specific installations.
Black & White Project Space is tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
In the past 8 years we supported 20 artists who created 23 new site-specific installation at Black & White Gallery/Project Space.

Prior to founding Black & White Gallery / Project Space in 2002 in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, NY, I was a VP of Structured Trade Finance @ JP Morgan Chase in NYC. Education: MBA, UMass, Amherst, MA (1984) and MA in English Language & Literature, State University, Chernovtsy, Ukraine (1974).
I am married to an artist and together we raised two children.
