Hernan Jimenez was born in San José, Costa Rica. He is an actor, writer and director, and a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada. He has directed five short films and a documentary, which garnered him critical acclaim and a host of national awards in Costa Rica's most important film festival - including Best Documentary, Best Editing, Best Screenplay for a Short, Best Musical Score, Best Actor and Best Actress in a Short. He directed two seasons of Costa Rica's hit sketch comedy show "La 1/2 Docena." He wrote and directed "A ojos cerrados", his first feature film, which was theatrically released and became a local box office success. The film was consistently hailed by the country's leading critics as one of its history's best. Less than 2 months after this premiere, and funded exclusively through the modest profits, Hernan began production on his second feature, The Return, which he stars in as well. Hernan is also a prominent stage actor in Costa Rica, he has produced and performed a successful one-man-show and toured nationally with his own stand-up comedy, which has financed most of his creative projects. He currently lives and studies in San Francisco, California.
