I've already been stopped in the street several times in NYC by someone who saw the lock on my bike-- even as i was riding by-- and asked about it. It works beautifully and the ease of transporting it alone was worth the purchase. But the downside in NYC is that it's often very difficult to lock up next to a standard bike rack, where I can take advantage of the lock's inherently elegant design. Nine times out of ten I'm locking it up to scaffolding, street signs, or iron fences. Even U-shaped NYC bike racks have super-fat square posts, and people lock up parallel to them, making it impossible to get the bow around a post and both tires. In the end I put the bow around the infrastructure and through one tire and end up taking the other tire off in order to lock it. But this is still often problematic because the bow only stretches so much, especially at the U end; if it's been stretched to its max, the two halves of the bow don't want to line up perfectly to accept the locking cylinder. Could the bow be made just as secure but more malleable, maybe? Other than that, I'm not sure there's a solution that doesn't involve NYC installing new cycling infrastructure.

I have been using my TiGr lock for a couple of months now and love it. I have seen some people asking for a way to transport the locking cylinder along with the band - that is EASY. Just lock the cylinder on one side of the band. The way that the lock works, it is just a secure with only one leg of the band in the lock. The disadvantage is that then the cylinder rubs on that part of the bike where it touches. I fixed that by putting a small band of elastic velcro around that part of the tube where it touches. No problem. One thing I have noticed is that the velcro straps that come with the lock wear out really quickly - especially because over time the band gets bowed out a bit and the velcro has to handle a lot more force to keep the band next to the bar on my bike. I just tossed out the velcro and made a couple of straps to hold the lock out of 1" nylon straps with a plastic quick release friction buckle - it is really secure and won't wear out the same way as the velcro. This is an awesome lock - thank you!

I am very happy wit my two TiGr that arrived today in freezing Norway. Even if it is -6 degrees C, I had to take my bike for a ride and lock it up proudly in front of the Coffee Shop. I loved the curious glances that got me :) Thank you so much for all the updating, taking us with you in the production process. And by the way: Joshua, your graphics are great, reflecting the simple and clean functionality of the lock. I also tried the QR code with the app QuickMark on my iPhone, and it worked very well. That way I can take everybody asking directly to the webpage and proudly show them I was a backer!
Creator Penelope Lee Scott on December 21, 2011
Looking forward to receiving two of these. The comments are great.
Creator Dahlia Pena on December 18, 2011

I just received my lock and took some photos of the first time mounting them up on a Surly Big Dummy and my commuter bike. I'm excited to give these some real world exercise.

Lock just arrived and it looks and feels great, the weight compared to my normal D lock is amazing.
Just got to find an excuse to use my bike now to try it out.
Creator Mel Flores on December 6, 2011
I've had mine for nearly a month - it draws stares, comments, envy and sexy women love to tough it... then again, that's always been the case.
Now, as for the lock - it's simply amazing. I fucking love it; innovative and light. Easy to transport while riding, and a cinch to lock up. Thanks to anyone and everyone involved.
Creator Sang Park on December 6, 2011
I got my lock and have been using it for about 2 weeks now. I do love the lock and it's awesome.
But one thing I would love is a way to keep the bow and the lock together. I commute to work on bike and more than once I forgot to bring the lock and couldn't lock me bike with TiGr.
Creator Chris Mallinson on December 5, 2011
Got my lock. Very happy there was no duty charged for shipping to Canada. The lock is fantastic, and I'm very pleased with the craftsmanship. It fit's perfectly on my bike as well. Love it. Well worth the wait.
Creator John Loughlin on December 5, 2011
Hi Stephan-
The first 3 digits on the s/n are a prefix so the s/n's are not as high as they might seem. There is room for improvement on the coating which we are working on for release 2.0.
I'm really sorry about the QR code readablilty, its a link to a THANK YOU page for our backers http://tigrlock.com/pages/thank-you-backers/
The titanium can be anodized which may provide a lot of cosmetic options for the TiGr in the future. I agree that the QR code should be much more readable when etched after anodizing. One of the great things about about Kickstarter is that it provides the backer with a special limited edition product and it provides us with an opportunity to have a meaningful pre-production run.

I _LOVE_ this lock! I've been using it daily in downtown Chicago for just shy of a month, and it works perfectly. Excellent work, all around!
Creator Stephan on December 1, 2011
Ya, I'm curious about the high serial numbers as well.
Just got my two today, must say they look awesome. I'm assuming the plastic coating what added before the bending process. That would explain the markings on it as well as the lift within the bend. I'm not sure how feasible it would be to add the plastic after the bend, but it might be something to look into. There are probably some people in the world who would be upset to see a lock priced this high with any kind of 'defects' on it.
Haven't tried the QR code yet, but the etch looks clean enough to scan. I'm curious if it would of scanned better had it been painted or color anodized before the etch. Can you even anodize the titanium alloy used in this?
Creator Alan Durnwirth on November 22, 2011
I received my TiGr lock today!
After months of anticipation it was worth the wait.
I'm very impressed with the quality, craftsmanship and design. Great job!
Creator Wayne Lo on November 21, 2011
Received mine this weekend. First impressions are the lock mechanism is just gorgeous and appears very secure! The bend is a little less acute than I expected, and the plastic coating is lifted on the inside bend (but I suppose that's a physical inevitability). All in all, a wondrous piece of machining.
Creator John Loughlin on November 20, 2011
The thank you page lists all the backers by their "kickstarter name" in the order in which they pledged. If you don't see your name or you would like to have your real name listed just send me a note.
Creator John Loughlin on November 20, 2011
Sorry about the QR Code guys, it did not work out as well as I had hoped, it's a link to a Thank You page on our website: http://tigrlock.com/pages/thank-you-backers/
It's more reliable on the 1.25" version though still problematic.
It's the thought that counts as they say.
Creator Curt Harpold on November 20, 2011
Just received my lock - it's beautiful and light. About the only negative I can think of is that the QR code won't scan. I'm amazed at how high the serial numbers are running.
Creator Gary Elfring on November 20, 2011
I got mine and it's on my bike, replaing a 3 pound kryptonite lock.
Creator Randy McCleary on November 19, 2011
Got mine. Great job. High quality. Subtle details make it a great product. Thanx all the effort. -RJ
Creator Steven Cuypers on November 16, 2011
I got mine today. I like it very much.
I had to pay a €25 fine to customs (they call it a "fee" to find out how much it really costs) because it was marked as 'gift', worth 1$. That, (+ another €29,67 tax), I don't like too much...
Creator Robert Gott on November 13, 2011
Awesome lock guys, congrats!
Creator Mike Puchol on November 11, 2011
Any idea when international shipments will start? I'm really looking forward to getting mine!
Creator Daniel Pasette on November 11, 2011

Creator Javier Matamoros on November 7, 2011
I got my lock about a week ago and I love it! Looks great on the bike, it's super light, and it's just boss to be able to pull out the tiny lock cylinder and pop it closed.
Is there any way to buy extra mounting straps? Moving them from one bike to another isn't too time consuming but it'd be nice to have another set.
Creator Joey on November 6, 2011
For those that received the locks, are you all located in the same area or is it shipped out by backers order or purely randomly?
Creator kimberlyk on October 24, 2011
Got my lock today! My ride just lost 5+ pounds. Holed up sick for a few days, but can't wait to try it out. My bike has a step-through frame, but I've secured it with the straps and it looks like it will be fine.
Creator Randy Kato on October 23, 2011
WooHoooo!!! Got my lock in the mail yesterday! Can't wait to try it out in the real world - it's gonna get a serious test on the streets of NYC. Forgot what it was like to ride my bike without the extra 15lbs. of Kryptonite.
Creator Sean Chan on October 17, 2011
John, I've pledged for $500 for the Ti Abloy housings. Is is possible to have the same keys for both Ti Abloy housings?

Creator Nick L on June 21, 2011
Thanks so much for the stickers, which arrived in the UK today. It's great to see this being successful! It's a shame you sold out of the $100 reward as I'd have loved to buy a lock at that price... Best of luck with the commercialisation!
Creator John Loughlin on June 20, 2011
Hi Scott-
Yes all backers will get stickers.
By the end of this week i should have a better idea on delivery.
Thanks
John
Creator Scott Walton on June 20, 2011
Will all backers receive stickers? Also do you have a rough time table estimate for shipping? End of summer? Just curious. Looking forward to the locks. TiGr growl!

Hi Jim-
I plan to use USPS for all the shipments.
John
Creator Jim White on June 6, 2011
What is the shipping method that you will use for the t-shirts? I need to know so I know whether to use my PO Box or street address (which doesn't get USPS).
Congrats on the awesome start.
Creator Sean Chan on June 6, 2011
John, sorry if this has been asked before but can the TiGr be coloured?
Creator John Loughlin on June 6, 2011
Sorry guys, XXL, XXXL and XXXXL are also definitely available. Just send me a note with your size if different than the survey.
Creator Mike Puchol on June 5, 2011
John, can you allow for XXL size? Some of your backers may be a tad larger than average ;-) Congrats on the success!
