It has been a fabulous yet very busy time for us. :::Merkato::: has been featured in several online publications, photography installations, and the 2011 African Gathering Conference in Washington DC. We are really grateful for the overwhelming global support. Thank you!
We are still in our final stages of editing, and will deliver the advanced copies of the DVD as soon as we reach our final cut. Thank you all for your patience and excitement as we bring you this beautiful film & rewards in the New Year.

Here is our final sneak peak of the week. ASHENAFI is one of my favorite characters in the film. He has such a young humble spirit & perspective. It was inspiring to watch him hustle to buy & sell plastics in MERKATO.

Sosena Solomon is a Film Maker/ Art Director who originally hails from Ethiopia. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Television Production from Temple University and a Master of Fine Arts in Social Documentary Film from the School of Visual Arts. Her focus has been on visually exploring human stories which examine unfamiliar cultures and marginalized peoples.
