Best Week Ever.
Thanks to your support, we were able to fund a week of rehearsals in NY for the most magnificent cast and crew you could possibly gather. We worked long days (and a few nights) under the direction of the lovely Sarah Cameron Sunde toward our work-in-progress performance at the American Folk Art Museum.
Our Saturday evening audience was completely taken with the VIVIAN GIRLS. In five days, Sarah and the cast and crew had staged a fully on-its-feet (scripts were carried but barely used) of a 70 minute one-act musical with 11 incredible songs composed by Peter Adams. There were two fully choreographed numbers and movement/gesture throughout, thanks to Heather Britt.
For me, it was exactly as I had dreamed it could be: an odd, magical world in which very tender, knowable human things get played out. I am not the only person who cried, that I can assure you.
I cannot express enough gratitude for allowing us to take this journey forward with the VIVIAN GIRLS. I am completely confident that YOU have backed something that will find its place in the world for many, many performances.
Now, we will work to determine next steps. And we will keep you in the loop.
Once I see the video we took, I will try to send you a little snip so you can taste the VIVIAN GIRLS magic yourself.
So thank you thank you thank you thank you to everyone. And special thanks to Rachel Rosen and the staff at the Folk Art Museum. I especially loved the museum guards and one of the best responses was from one of them: "It's better than Broadway."
Stacy (and Peter and Heather) and Sarah Cameron Sunde (director), Amanda Feldman (producer), Lizzy Lee (stage manager) and Anne Damassa (music director) and our amazing cast: Ron Crawford, Jessica Kuhne, Mallory Hawks, Michael Lorz, Tuomas Hiltunen, Emma Love, Tanesha Ross, Ellie Jameson, Callie Schuttera, Ali Dachis, Patricia Cancio and Nikki Stevenson.
