We are so grateful for your support. And it is magic, really, how it all worked out in the end.

You funded us at $5270 and our working budget for our week in NY is $5205. Amazing!

We will be chatting with you over next couple of weeks as we move toward our workshop and performance. Your support has been perfectly timed to allow us the freedom of creation, both in advance of and during our week together.

I have been thinking a lot about Henry Darger, about the complex and human desires of girls, and about the nature of art-making itself. For this piece, I am thinking a lot about forces of nature (the wind) vs. forces of desire (breath). 

On Thursday, I sat in an historic performance venue and watched a storm roll in outside the majestic windows. Inside, I watched amazing performers collaborate on an epic new work. These masterful performers (Nico Muhly, Sufjan Stevens and Bryce Dessner) were skillfully holding up their individual parts. But the real beauty of the piece was watching them watch each other as they collaborated and played into new sounds, new feelings, new moments. When it worked, you could see it between them. Hearing it was the aftertaste of what you already knew.

Thanks again for allowing us to sit together and find our own version of this connectedness.
