About this project
We will interview people from as far across the U.S. as we can and create an internal and external mapping system of HOME and what it means to Americans, international visitors, and to us as artists.
Kinesis Project's home is New York City, but the reasons why are so varied...and the actuality of a true sense of home is so unusual - We need to know, what makes others feel "at home".
The choreography will stem directly from what people say - movement will be generated from the stories told, and text will be written based on various interviews and interactions.
Performances will be in places as varied as we can get permission for - Beaches, Rooftops, Forests, Parks, City Streets, Small Town Centers....really, its up to you, and what you tell us!
Our Kickstarter fund will give us the money to travel to people to interview them, give us a budget to create the dances from the vocabulary taken from the interviews, pay the fees involved in permits to dance in unusual spaces and the ability to document the dances through film and photos.
At the end of this new and exciting process there will be Performances, a Photo Book and a Film.
Join us in the Mapping fun!
