ABOUT THIS PROJECT...

ScanBooth is a document-scanner stand and a mini photo-booth for small objects.

It is a light-weight foldable device, which takes full advantage of the high resolution camera on your iPhone - or any smart phone similarly equipped - to scan multiple documents, photographs or small objects.Developed for durability, portability and ease of use, whether at home, at the office or on a business trip in your hotel room, ScanBooth is made of strong recyclable translucent plastic thus allowing maximal light diffusion thanks to its four open sides.

HOW THIS PROJECT CAME ABOUT...
A single scan is always easy enough but keeping multiple scans on the same plane is a long and challenging task.
This same problem arises when you want to scan family photos or shooting small objects.
Keeping your camera straight consistently is nearly impossible without some device, a requirement which led me to conceive SCANBOOTH - Uniquely constructed of a single piece of plastic, light weight, yet strong, durable and most importantly, stable when set up.

SCANBOOTH is the result of numerous design iterations followed with actual prototyping.

SCANBOOTH IS STRONG...

I placed an old laptop weighing over 4Lbs (almost 2Kg!) and SCANBOOTH was up to the task!

SCANBOOTH IS MONOBLOC...
Conceived as one piece to fold and lock, no assembly or parts that will come off.

SCANBOOTH IS TRANSLUCENT...
No need for special lighting contraption!
Natural light or a well lit room will do just fine - The optics of the iPhone 4 or 4S are particularly efficient in low light conditions as you can see in these photos:
SCANBOOTH IS WATERPROOF...
Because solely plastic is used, there is no chance of warping or other water damage whether during repeated use or in transit.

SCANBOOTH IS ECO-FRIENDLY...
Just made of 100% recyclable plastic.

SCANBOOTH REQUIRES NO SPECIAL SOFTWARE...
ScanBooth will work with your iPhone or any smart phone, however, if you should want extended features, there are various software packages available in the Apple App Store which you might consider. 
Other smart phones will likely have similar availability.

WHAT'S NEXT...
My critical figure is to reach a $ 5,000.00 threshold in order to make this project viable, covering the initial setup charges and material purchases quite significant for a relatively small industrial order.
