Welcome! Thanks for stopping by my KickStarter site. My name is Brooksie Wells, and if you don’t know me already, I’m a singer/songwriter.  I’m hoping you can help me with my new CD project “Undiscovered Treasure.” Let me tell you a little more about myself and then I hope you will decide to support me in my new musical endeavor.

I was discovered by Bobby Darin and signed to Chappell Music in New York back in the day. In fact, if Bobby hadn’t died young, you probably would have heard of me a long time ago.  After two kids making it to college and a divorce, I took a chance and decided to restart my music career.

My first album, post-divorce, was a country record about heartache and dating the second time around called “Been There”. It went well and was nominated for a Washington Area Music Award. Three years later I made a second album called “Anything But Love”. 

Now, I want to create a new album in three parts. “Undiscovered Treasure” will start with a “Girls Night Out,” featuring five tracks with all women musicians, not because we’re girls but because we’re good. Featuring:

• Jenny Leigh Obert, award winning contemporary Bluegrass fiddler
• Lisa Kay Howard, mandolin player, vocalist, Host of The Old Home Place on WAMU
• Lisa McCormick, guitar, banjo. Lisa is a mainstay of the indie singer/songwriter underground, and teaches guitar online at Guitartricks.com.
  
  

The next five tracks will be the “Famous Guys” section, with

• Robbie Kondor, keys, (just off tour with James Taylor and Carol King),
  
• Gordon Titcomb, pedal steel, mandolin, (on Broadway with Bonnie and Clyde and plays for Paul Simon, Arlo Guthrie, Shawn Colvin),
  
• Ricky Simpkins, fiddle, (tours with Emmy Lou Harris), 
• Larry Williams, keys, (Al Jarreau, George Benson, Michael Jackson)
  
• Sven Bridstrup, my ex-husband, who is one of the best drummers around whether or not we’re married. 
  

The last section will be “Brooksie”s Blues” section featuring my old friends Fast Eddie Galvin, and the Wammie Award-winning Linwood Taylor. My production partner in this, and all of my other CDs, is engineer and producer, Julian McBrowne, who will keep the project running smoothly and sounding great. The whole album will be filled with wonderful musicians and I’m hoping everyone will be able to find a treasure in it.

My writing has deepened, and I think it is important to get my songs out there. I want to reach a larger audience who hopefully will want to hear what I have to say.  But making a record isn’t easy and it isn’t cheap.  And so, here is where I humbly ask you to help me make this a reality.  The very talented musicians playing on this CD deserve to be paid, not only because it is the main source of income for many of them, but because artists should be supported by everyone for what they give to the world. 

Our goal for this project is $15,000, and no one will be charged if we don’t reach that amount.  Anything you can give will help, and all is appreciated.  I’m so very grateful to my friends and my fans, and I have a hard time telling the difference anymore.
