Update #5: Field Notes and Geiger Counters!
Update #4: Safecast Update
Update #3: Thank You!
Update #2: Thank You Cards
We've been thinking a lot about the thank you cards that we're going to send out to all the folks who have donated $10 or more.
We wanted to make it more functional than just a thank you card. Something that you'll use and keep while being reminded about how awesome you are for donating to our project.
And we also wanted to remain true to the integrity of Kickstarter and its rules.
So we're still sending you a thank you card.
It's just going to be in the shape of a Field Notes book. We will be stamping our (yet unreleased) Safecast logo along with a thank you message on each Field Notes book. Everyone who donates $10 or more will receive one (1) Field Notes book with our logo and thank you message.
It's our way of saying thank you and inspiring you to fill it up - with data, notes, scientific analysis or to-do lists, whatever you fancy.
So thank you. And happy Field Noting!

This ongoing crisis has highlighted the need for trusted sources. With conflicting reports of radiation levels in affected areas, we wanted to build a way to report and see data in an unbiased format. RDTN.org was conceived and developed in 72 hours to address that need.
In the weeks following launch, the conversation has evolved to include a series of short term and long term goals. Among those short term goals is the desire to deploy additional devices to the affected areas in Japan. Longer term we are discussing building a network of RDTN.org devices that will be deployed throughout the world and will feed data into our system.

Great idea! :)
ARWE, a rad design agency here in California, gave me a branded Field Notes memo book a few months ago. I use it all the time! I can't wait to get a RDTN.org version.
