What is it ?

the Desktip has 7 illuminated buttons, which can each be configured to a different internet service: Facebook, Twitter, POP3 mail box, internet mail box (IMAP),RSS and more.
As soon as there is a new update at the predefined services the relevant button gets illuminated. Pushing the button leads you directly to that service, no matter what else you are doing in the computer at the moment.

The Desktip can also be used as a quick web site opener : regardless to the button illuminating, you can click on any desired button and it would lead you to the web page you want. Just click and it opens!

Why do I need it?

Yes, we all have smart phones alerting us about new updates, as well as different softwares which do the same. But just imagine having it all centered together, on your work table. No need to download new software or constantly look at your phone, just one blinking light and you know there are news. And don’t worry about being away from your computer for a few hours; the Desktip will give you a summation of all the new things that piled while you were away.
Not to mention opening these services. Instead of locating the icon, and choosing it from your favorite list, you just push once at the button and you are there. Your internet experience will never be the same!

How to update the icons

The buttons on the Desktip are magnets, which you can easily and simply switch. We provide 20 more magnets of popular websites, as well as allowing you to add your own services which are not in the standard package. Updating the buttons from the software is easy and simple, all you need to do is choose the service you want, set the details and that’s it.
The Desktip has open source software, so you are able to add new services easily using XML files.

What else ?

The Desktip also contains a small disk on key, that has the software. It would run automatically on any computer, without reinstalling or redefining the services. Of course, the information can be protected using a password.
The Desktip software also has a site listing option, including the RSS parameters of the sites, so you can find and correctly define the site you want. Desktip users would be able to find, via the list, new sites that match their interest. One of the rewards allows you, for a small payment that will grow as the Desktip community grows, to join your own site to the list.

What is the money for?

Mostly for finishing touches. We have a working proto type, it still needs some fine tuning, but it works. The software is in it final stages, but it too needs investment. If and when the project would be funded, we would create an internet web site to allow switching services and different updates to the Desktip software.

Price

The basic color versions of the Desktip (B&W, Green, Red) can be pre purchased here for $35. The retail price would probably be $49 or higher. We also offer unique versions (Black & Chrome as well as Gold & White) for $45. The retail for these version would be 59$. 

Buying either the  2 or 3 units package allow you to have the units in which ever color you want including the specail versions, without adding more money.
