About this project
We're Nora Renick-Rinehart and Lucy Knisley, and we share an art studio.
We came of age with the cultural phenomenon of the Harry Potter books. Throughout our adolescence and adult lives, we've been avid fans of this series. Our interest in the widespread global fandom of the wizarding world has become a source of inspiration in our work, and the topic of much discussion around the studio.
In the midst of simultaneous breakups this past summer, we recognized the comfort and distraction that this fantasy world provided, and began to imagine a collaborative adventure and art project about the cultural phenomenon of Harry Potter.
We'd like to take a trip to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in order to then make a 25-page comic (with hand-screenprinted cover). The comic will be about our experience, and how Harry Potter as a cultural phenomenon has shaped fan society, British/American consumerism, literature and our own lives.
We're trying to raise money for the trip and the printing costs for the comic.
Our Budget:
-Plane Tickets: 400 each (800)
-Hotel/park tickets: 325 each (650)
-Food cost: 50 dollars a day (400)
-Cab fare: (30)
-Cat sitting costs: (80)
-Printing costs: 80$ screenprinting supplies, 460$ for a print run of 300

The Burrow Studio is a art partnership between Lucy Knisley and Nora Renick Rinehart.
LUCY KNISLEY is a comic artist and writer. She has authored and drawn a number of graphic novels, including "French Milk," a drawn travel journal. She is working on another graphic novel with First Second publishing. She also teaches comics to kids, makes puppet videos and songs, and does freelance comics and art. She went to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (BFA, 2007), and the Center for Cartoon Studies (MFA, 2009).

NORA RENICK-RINEHART is a fibers artist and enthusiast. She has had a number of gallery showings and art installations in the various cities where she's made her homes. She is currently working on designing a line of screen-printed handbags and creating a body of textile work about the great depression and the "Make Do Mend" movement. She also teaches printing, knitting and sewing classes to adults. She attended the Maryland Institute College of Art (BFA, 2007).
