SYNOPSIS:

Slingers is the story of Nick Bernard, and his desperate attempt to escape the harrowing life of a twenty-something unemployed New York City actor.  Born in a small cultural slum known only as “Toledo,” Nick has endured multiple auditions without so much as a second callback.  Now, faced with dwindling funds and big city rent he has only two options:  Move back to Toledo or make some quick cash by going above the law..........or, you know, get a job.

Nick enlists the help of his friend Brad and together they delve into the illicit world of cocaine sales.  One thing leads to another and before they know it, they are deeply in debt to a notorious drug lord/accountant who has a mysterious photo of Nick’s girlfriend, Robyn, on his desk.  The result is an action packed cross between ‘Community’ and ‘Weeds’ with a little ‘Blow’ thrown in.  Also, ‘Pulp Fiction’, ‘Breaking Bad’, ‘Party Down’, and ‘The Sopranos.’  Oh, and ‘Scarface.’

THE PROJECT:

The project will be split up into 7 episodes and distributed on Youtube. It will also be assembled into one complete short film and submitted to festivals. We have formed partnerships with a number of Youtube channels that will be helping us get the word out to thousands of fans and subscribers once we begin to release the episodes.

We've already begun raising money to help make this project a reality, but we need your help so that we can afford the transportation, equipment, and crew necessary to do this project right.

Actor/Producer - Nick Uhas

Nick Uhas is an American actor born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. He studied acting at Yale University and Ohio State University. Nick started his career in media as a professional stunt rollerblader which eventually led him to become a full time actor and producer in New York City. Nick's fan base has grown large due to his international presence as a professional rollerblader and actor with such productions as College Musical The Movie,  Sailor Moon the Movie, and Breaking (short film produced by ABC's Julian Quinones).Nick was recently cast on a Discovery ID, cable TV show as a lead.

Director/DP - Erick Fix

Erick is an award-winning Director, Editor and DP whose drive and passion for all areas of filmmaking make him a diverse and valuable asset on any production. He is currently finished up a short called JEREMIAH WAS A PROPHET based on a feature script he’s been developing. He also edits feature films for Mechanizedmules, a NY based production company where he recently finished cutting UNTITLED, staring Christian Camargo, Bobby Cannavale, and Gregg Henry, and is finishing up a second film called ADAM SHAW, staring Josh Hamilton and Academy Award Nominee Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio.
