Tess Brunet/Au Ras Au Ras (oh rah oh rah) is set to record her first solo record January 27th with help from Seth Kauffman and Michael Libramento (Floating Action) at Dial Black Sound in Oxford, MS with Bruce Watson (of Fat Possum Records).
Brunet has released music under the name deadboy and the Elephantmen (Fat Possum Records), Animal Electric (self-release), and Generationals (Park The Van). She has also played drums for Lady Bo, Twin Tigers, Attack Formation, Fangtar, The Lees, and One Man Machine.
Tess started playing music at the age of 25 in early 2003 while working at S.I.R. Studios in New York City as the Accounts Receivable Manager. Self-taught, she plays drums, auto-harp, keys, and guitar.
AH! Thank YOU sir! And thanks for backing me!
Just listened to the whole thing and I like it a lot. Throughout the album I'm reminded of Flaming lips a bit, pre-billboard modest mouse, and a few times Shivaree. Nice job, I'm proud to have you on my iPod! Thanks very much, Tess.
It's getting there. It's being sent off next week to get mastered. I went over budget a bit, had to dig deep and also take up a couple jobs to finish everything. Soon. xo
are we there yet?
this is a true statement.
Wait? I thought we were.
we should probably be friends.
And I you.
I love you Tess!
wow, you're pretty amazing to figure that out from my shitty description. Search complete, that's totally it. I like the version you guys did better, especially with you on vocals, but this will do for now. Thank you so much and congrats again!
Hmm, it may be a cover called "I Get Nervous" by Lower Dens...
... middleish I think? slow tempo with a very simple drum beat (kick, snare, kick, snare, kick, snare until about the end of the choruses I think where you did kick, kick, snare.) dont remember ANY lyrics but they were rhythmic and in 2 syllable sections pretty much throughout. I don't know if that helps. Thanks for even bothering with it, I know you have a lot going on right now.
Thanks Kris... hmm I don't, we played songs from both records. Where was it in the set?
Congrats, Tess. I'm really looking forward to hearing what you put together. Is there any chance you could help find a recording of that Generationals song that I'm looking for? Its not on any of the available downloads I found but you guys played it when you were in san diego. Its kiiiinda driving me nuts. Stuck in my head and all.
Thank you Brian!
Congratulations!
Yay!!!!!!!!
congrats!!
Yay Tess!
Ha, that's totally the reason Brian.
I'd like to think that this was because of my offer of risqué self-portraits. Yeah, that's *totally* the reason.
I know, I really didn't think this was going to happen.
Wow, that was an amazing last minute push.
Me too, me too.
Nice! So glad it will be done.
Crazy, fucking crazy.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
It is shocking.
I feel like it must be a glitch. I'm in shock.
I refreshed and it was done. Someone just gave an awful lot of money. Congratulations.
WOW!
Brian, you're seriously amazing! xoxo
Rose my pledge too, and made a deal of my own to Tumblr and Twitter - if the goal is met, I will get risqué photos taken and sent as a present, because I want this album made so badly.
Just saw that! Thanks Thibaut! I hope so too, this is so freakin' close. Shit.
I've just risen my pledge. I hope you'll get it cause you're so close!
Thanks Kris! Thanks for the support and contribution too! Greatly appreciated!
@Sam: I know me too, it's going to be a long night.
Up from about two this morning. I was worried.
I just saw you guys in San Diego at the Belly Up about a week ago. I hadn't heard of you prior but really like two of the songs you did. One was Angry Charlie and the other... I dont know! None of the samples I listen to are even close on iTunes or the two sites I found with mp3 downloads. I'm not sure what I can do other than hum it to you but I'd really like to find it. You're awesome by the way, really liked your style a lot.
Thank you Brian, will do!
If your project doesn't make it, resubmit it! I'll contribute to it again...or just give you 20$ when I get back to NOLA. So proud!
Hi Andrew, thanks! It is old home video footage.
Hey Tess! That new video that you posted is pretty cool, I like the song in the background. Is that footage from personal home movies in there?
I'm not sure how things are down there at the moment Andrew. I've been on tour with the Gens..
Well shoot. Hopefully sooner rather than later. How're things goin down there?
Was there recently @ the Grog Shop with the Generationals... damn! Oh I'll be back though!
then you could take me out in your awesome van!
I already do tell everyone! Too bad you live so far away, you should come to Ohio, it is awesome out here?
I guessed that Andy :) thanks for the clarity though.
Hello, that post below wasn't me!
Hey, I like you! Tell everyone you know about me!!! Now!! I'll be your BFF...
