La MaMa ETC Presents our new piece "Wake Up, You're Dead" as a part of La MaMa Puppet Series (an international puppet festival.) YES! We are slated to open October 29th, 2010. Production began this summer to bring an interactive theatrical spectacle, in the stye of Blue Man Group and De Le Guarda, to the NYC stage. We dreamed big, and we're makin' it happen.
Aaron Haskell - our fearless leader - has created Wake Up, You're Dead! a Halloween-flavored creation myth, performed as a dark ceremony by a weird tribe. The Ancestors--Haskell's own version of the Greek Titans--are life-sized creatures that create great balls of light (the life force). Mankind is born by sliding down a Jungian sluice to the earth. There are black light effects, dancing skeletons, stop motion film, primal movement, Butoh and modern dance. Puppets bring puppeteers to life and vice-versa. It's all staged as a boisterous party to celebrate life that will have you on your feet.

Our Plan.
We have called on our friends at NIGHTMARE (thank you, Sir Timothy Haskell) to help us give you guys incentive to back our show. By supporting this underground show (at least $50) you will not only be a BADass, but we will get you in the door to Nightmare: Superstitions. Of course, the more cash you are willing to share, the more you will be rewarded. Handsomely.

The $2150 (our Kickstart goal) will go to: 18 costumes, puppet materials (bamboo, fabric, joints, foam, latex...) masks, black lights, space rentals for rehearsals (a biggie), promotional materials, aerial hammock, rigging, stop motion materials and lastly paying the artists for their amazing creativity, energy, and tremendously hard work (6 dancers / puppeteers and 3 musicians.)
If we are blessed enough to surpass our goal, we will be able to make the show on a larger scale: more elaborate puppets, more durable materials, better costumes, more lights, more musicians.... You get it. We dream big people.

"We're Makin' it Happen."
For the past 7 years, two of the original designers of Nightmare: NYC's most Horrifying Haunted House, Aaron and Justin Haskell have headed the art department creating new ways to terrify NYC with both realistic and fantastical designs. In 2007, BAD was launched to support the huge success of Nightmare, as well as to produce killer new works. Based in Brooklyn, the brothers along with their crew of muli-disciplined artists are makin' it happen.
