About this project
Quick and Dirty!
My name is Amy Greenan, and I am an artist based in Niagara Falls, NY. This summer has turned from what seemed like a sleepy, slow time to a regular art-making extravaganza! I am thrilled that I have been awarded an artist residency to Ox-Bow in Saugatuck, MI (the summer school of the Art Institute of Chicago) this summer, and excited for the several exhibitions I have lined up. In the next week and a half, I'd like to see if I can raise enough money to get me to the two-week residency to make TONS of art, as well as for travel and art materials expenses. It's a quick and dirty, near last-minute push to see if I can make this happen.
The work I am making will be exhibited in several places this summer and fall, including Studio Hart in Buffalo, NY, 171 Houghton Gallery in Corning, NY, AnTHM Gallery in Asheville, NC, and for my first solo show abroad in England.
I have never, ever had two full weeks of time devoted only to making art and think that this is an amazing opportunity that I hate to pass up. I'm looking forward to making art for you, my backers, especially! Even a small donation will get something handmade from me that I will delight in creating and will really make my time in the studio less something I am doing alone and more something I am doing for and with many of you. The atmosphere at Ox-Bow is not unlike summer camp in the best way, and I will be inspired not only by reference material I have collected myself in the past few years, but also by the landscape of Ox-Bow and its surroundings, as well as the community of artists that will be there during my stay.
Many of you may be familiar with my series of paintings of abandoned houses, which I am continuing to explore with this project. I am also looking forward to incorporating more figurative elements and some story-telling along with that will encourage a more intense dialogue with the viewer. I'd like to work on larger canvases and Yupo paper as well as some small sculptural explorations as well.
It's Really Simple
I don't have a cool video to entice you, and I have nothing particularly fancy to say except that it would mean the world to me if you are able to offer even a small donation – and if not that, would you spread the word in the next ten days?
Visit my website and my Flickr for more images and information about me!
Thank you for whatever help you can give. Artists could not survive without the support of those who love art – you are a vital part of the artist's creative process!
Sincerely,
Amy
