About this project
THE CONCEPT:
In 1983, I met a Swedish guitarist. Although we came from extremely different musical backgrounds, our repertoire overlapped when it came to the contemporary Canadian artists of our youth: Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, as well as some lesser known artists. We would sit in Hans' tiny kitchen and sing these songs into the wee hours.
T I M E P A S S E D...... and over the years, whenever we saw one another, we would sit in some kitchen, somewhere, and sing all these songs to the walls or whoever would listen. Each time we were reminded how much that music had shaped who we became, and we started dreaming about someday recording a Canadian Tribute album to honor these great composers of our youth. Now is the finally the right time.
But not only did these great songwriters shape our personal lives and souls, but they contributed to an entire culture's budding psycho-spiritual consciousness, as well as it's political awareness.
Both Hans and I have had long careers in different areas of the music industry. For me, these songs inspired me to write my own music, while he established the HiFi Club, an audiophile company.
The artists who will be represented are Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, The McGarrigle sisters, Daniel Lanios, Bruce Cockburn, Leonard Cohen, The Cowboy Junkies, Jesse Winchester (honorary Canadian), Lhasa De Sela (contemporary), Gordon Lightfoot, Willie P Bennett. Yes, there are many great Canadian artists who are not represented here... perhaps that will be volume 2!
And YES, we know KD Lang did a similar recording a few years ago, but we had the idea first ...but not the where-with-all!
We almost finished tracking ( the tracks sound amazing!) but have a long mix ahead of us. Funds are also needed to
manufacture, and I would really like to produce a couple of music videos (funds permitting) so that this recording might reach a larger audience and inspire another generation.

At the heart of the contemporary Celtic revival dwells soul of Kate Price. A talented multi instrumentalist with a rich and beautiful voice, Kate continues to defy the very genre her early work helped define. Her music is as much a journey for her as for the listener.
Her repertoire blends cross cultural influences with her lyrical voice and her dynamic yet intimate sensibility. Noting this, one reviewer summed her up as “one part faery, one part gypsy”, and called her performance style “warm, elegant and intimate”. A recent reviewer said she had "one of Planet Earth's sweetest voices".
Starting her career in 1984 singing back up for Kenny Loggins, Kate has had a rich career singing original material as well as Bulgarian Sacred music. She produced several recordings of traditional Irish music before branching into original music and although she spent time with Higher Octave and Narada, she has launched her own music label, LunaVerse Music.
