Building a play installation for Smith Memorial Playground to give kids a place to play and raise awareness for the importance of play!
As the culmination of my independent study about the role of PLAY in child development and how that manifests itself in ARCHITECTURE, I am building a play installation for Smith Memorial Playground and Playhouse in Philadelphia, PA. This installation will have open-ended objects which engage a child's imagination as well as user-friendly copies of my research, presented in a booklet format for parents to look at for more information on the importance of play and how we can design better play environments for our children.
To do this, I need building materials: nails and screws, plywood and lumber, paint and varnish, foam and nylon!! I also need several copies of my research booklet available for visitors to read.
This installation is going up in less than two weeks, so time is short!! The hope is raise all the funds needed in seven short days!
Thanks for stopping by and supporting this play installation for Philadelphia area children!
