NY THEATRE

Here's a little something/nothing about our project. The downtown institution Dixon Place, formerly known as Ellie Covan's living room, has commissioned a new play by critically acclaimed playwright and linguistic gymnast, Mac Wellman.  Set in a haunted puppet theater (which looks suspiciously like Dixon Place), 3 2’s; or AFAR is a meditation on philosopher Martin Heidegger’s “Dialogue on Language between a Japanese and an Inquirer”, the presence of certain suspicious and abandoned footwear, as well as an exploration of the Japanese notion of IKI (coquetry).

The show premieres October 6 and runs through October 29th, 2011 at Dixon Place!

Our play is not very expensive but we need your help to make sure that all of the scenic elements, costumes and props  (no pyrotechnics-we swear!) come to fruition. We hope this unusual gem of a play gets to be realized as the uniquely singular performance event that it deserves to be.

And if you donate now, you'll be supporting the work of a ferocious team of innovative theater artists! Mac Wellman's 3 2's; or AFAR is directed by Meghan Finn, produced by Leslie Strongwater, and features an incredible cast; the legendary Jan Leslie Harding, the unforgettable Chuja Seo, the dashing Quinlan Corbett, the fantastic Sophie Nimmannit and the irresistible Jocelyn Kuritsky.  The designers include a group of industrious geniuses: Kyle Chepulis (set), Brian Aldous (lighting), Normandy Sherwood (costumes), Chris Giarmo (sound) and yet again, Jan Leslie Harding (props).  Music for the play is composed by Cesar Alvarez with lyrics co-written by Mr. Wellman himself.  The play is stage managed by our hero, the intrepid Anna Kroup.

We look forward to sharing 3 2's; or AFAR with you and hope you'll help support this delightfully strange project!
