Puppy Dreams is the story of 15-year-old Sidney Phillips. Sidney’s a smart, thoughtful kid who moves slowly and speaks in the clear, deliberate manner of a bygone era. She's also a bit of an outsider, spending most of her time doing puzzles with her 75-year-old grandmother. One day, Sid gets diagnosed with the most socially harrowing teenage disease: mono. This news compels our shy hero to embark on a day-long journey, informing everyone she may have infected with news of her illness. 

Sid's story is a heartwarming portrait of a teenager on the verge of greatness. Sid is so utterly unique that the mere sight of her turns heads, and yet, as an insecure teenager, her status as a lonely outsider prevents her from seeing herself as what she truly is: an incredible force of originality. On her journey, Sid encounters many emotional challenges, both enthralling and painful, ultimately enlightening.

A NOTE FROM ALEX

Puppy Dreams is my tiny little baby -- I couldn't be more excited about this film. It's a very personal story, inspired ever-so-slightly by my own childhood as a spacy, comics-obsessed tomboy who never quite fit in. It's also inspired by an insight I read from the Dalai Lama many years ago. I'm paraphrasing here, but His Holiness spoke of how all creatures come into this world as infants, wanting nothing more than to love and be loved. Throughout our lives,  things happen to us that take us away from this simple desire, but it's always there, somewhere inside us, and we must remember in our dealings with others that one day we were all just tiny little newborns.
