In Which There are Books
...Books! Here's a picture lifted from the Edition One blog where birthday cake gets pride of place (no argument from me), but our books make an appearance, too.
First in the picture above where we see Charlotte making the second pass on the front cover's foil stamping, and then below, where there's a big stack of covers waiting for that pass. (They've stamped to upper and lower parts of the front cover in two stages.)
There were further adventures with the cover stamping and I can't say I even understand what the last one was. But all seems to be well now. The books are packed in eleven boxes at Edition One, ready for UPS - which is likely to be quite a surprise for my UPS driver, believe me.
As of this afternoon the books are being held hostage, in the nicest possible way, until my final check gets there to bail them out.
Oddly enough even after all the ins and outs of the actual cover I'm more excited to see the dust jacket. I really like what I did there, and of course it's more recent, which always makes things look more shiny and wonderful. Or, in this case, more matte and wonderful.
It will take me a surprising length of time to turn the books around to you because of the interior stamp, the numbering, and - to a lesser extent - the packing; I'm going to let the ink from my stamp dry for a good long while so it can't even think about marking the facing pages. I expect that every horizontal surface in my downstairs rooms will be coated with drying books, and that's sort of an attractive idea. Yep, I look forward to seeing that.
So we're very nearly on the final stretch. I hope that 235 pounds of books doesn't break the deliveryman!
