Update #8: Portraits and gifts
Hello Everyone,
The book is almost ready to send to the printer (lots of proofing) and should be deliverable a couple weeks before Christmas. Also I am working on the first three portraits that have been sponsored by your help with this Kickstarter drive. The first one should be complete at the end of next week, and the others the following weeks. I will post these portraits and statements as soon as possible. Each of person who comes to the studio has, once again, a very particular thing to add to this understanding of the American experience of these wars. It is a great privilege to be able to meet them in the quiet of the studio and to listen to their understanding of things. Here are the names of these upcoming portraits:
Vernon "Gene" Davis
Ray Flores
Michael Eliassen
Since the drive was very successful and some participants are opting out of the travel allowance, I have been able to invite out some additional people to be part of the project.
This Saturday David Stockton comes in from Reno, Nevada for his portrait session.
I am working on getting everyone's gifts out the door and arranging the travel of the rest of the group with studio sessions booked in December and January as well.
Thank You everyone for making this possible!
Matt Mitchell
Update #7: The Kickstarter Goal is Met!
Thank you for helping meet the kickstarter fundraising goal!
This is an important moment.
Through your support of the participant's travel, your contributions have just helped make the next 10-15 portraits in the 100 Faces possible .
I will be in touch soon regarding your gifts.
We still have more opportunities with two days left of the drive. The books are still available. Any additional funds received now will go to this same goal of supporting the travel of more people to the studio. If you can, please keep sharing links and doing the good work you have done to make this drive a success.
On behalf of everyone who is part of the 100 Faces project, thank you,
Matt

Update #5: Reception tonight for the exhibition of the first 50 portraits

Opening Reception Tonight at the Canal Gallery
From 6-9
The exhibition of the first 50 portraits marks an important milestone.
Thank you for your help in starting the next 50 portraits.
For the exhibition several events are planned, including a performance work by Krista DeNio based on the text of the portraits and a panel discussion on art and war sponsored by Artists in Context on Sunday Sept. 11th. For more information about events click here. Three other artists also have work on exhibit at the Canal Gallery: Harriet Diamond, Mary Burnstein, and Bruce Fowler.
Tonight's reception looks like it will be very good and I hope to see you there.
Please keep sharing the movie and help with the Kickstarter fund drive, we still have a ways to go to our goal. We need to raise the remaining funds by October 1 or we don't get any of the money pledged so far. Your help is deeply appreciated.
Thank You
Matt
