Update #6: WE DID IT!

Posted on May 16, 2011

As of 11:30 a.m. today, BOTSO is now fully funded on Kickstarter!

We're excited about getting back to completing this film, and can't thank you enough for all of your kind support!

A short addendum -- please note that our Kickstarter launch will remain active until this Friday evening... any additional pledges will be used to help pay for postage and shipping of rewards (books, tee-shirts and sweatshirts), as well as any additional expenses we'll incur in the editing and post-production of BOTSO.

Best regards,

Tom and Hilary

Update #5: BOTSO FILM LANDS EXECUTIVE PRODUCER

Posted on May 14, 2011

We have our first Executive Producer!

Joanne Storkan, co-founder of Honest Engine Films, has been so moved by Botso’s story that she stepped up with a very generous contribution.

Now – with JUST SIX DAYS to go on Kickstarter – we’re only about $1,200 from our goal!  Please spread the word -- or help push us over the top if you can!

In other Botso news, 14-year-old Salome Jordania, a remarkable young cultural ambassador from the Republic of Georgia, will be making her American concert debut with the San Luis Obispo Youth Symphony this Sunday, May 15, at the Christopher Cohan Performing Arts Center in SLO.

Salome will be performing Mozart’s Concerto for Two Pianos with Karin Kei Nagano, daughter of famed conductor (and former Botso student) Kent Nagano, and his wife, pianist Mari Kodama. Find out more, including ticket info, at sloyouthsymphony.org

Salome worked with Botso this afternoon in his studio and we were able to catch some of it on film.  Absolutely precious!

Again, thanks for your support,

Tom and Hilary

Update #4: APPROACHING OUR GOAL!

Posted on May 3, 2011

Our Kickstarter launch has now raised more than $8000 – and along with that, here’s a wonderful announcement:

A group of generous donors has provided the necessary matching funds once we reach our $10,000 mark!  This means that if we can raise $2,000 in the next SIXTEEN DAYS, we will absolutely reach our $20,000 goal!  Hopefully we can even go higher!

If you want to support this final effort, we encourage you to do so soon!  All donations are 100 percent tax-deductible. And please spread the word to others that you know.  We are excited about getting back to finishing our work on BOTSO!

Also of note: Botso is hosting 14-year old piano prodigy Salome Jordania from the Republic of Georgia later this month.  Jordania will be featured at the season finale San Luis Obispo Youth Symphony concert on Sunday, May 15, at the Performing Arts Center in SLO.

Performing with Salome will be Karin Kei Nagano, also 14, and the daughter of conductor/six-time Grammy winner Kent Nagano and concert pianist Mari Kodama.

Salome’s father, a famous Georgian conductor, found out about Botso via news of our movie – another wonderful spin-off of our getting word out on a global level.

For concert and ticket information go to: http://sloyouthsymphony.org/

Again, thanks for your kind support!

Tom and Hilary
