I'm not a privileged environmental elite like Josh Fox. I'm a low paid public servant living in Ireland that could be out of a job in five years. My country is going down the toilet. So I think it's very important that Ireland take a closer look at fracking. Give it the fair trail it deserves, rather than finding it guilty without solid evidence. Hollywood is not going to speak for me, so I'm happy to let Frack Nation do it instead. Well done Ann, Phelim and Magda. This is classic David and Goliath on your part, taking on the corporate machine of Hollywood. Good luck. Andrew

Keep fighting the good fight. As with so many controversial issues (fracking, global warming....) the public needs full, unbiased information. I do think that people have a high capacity for the truth when they hear it. As for most of our "intelligentsia" (media, politicians, lawyers, education system, etc.) they unfortunately define the 'height of mediocrity" which is "the ready acceptance of received opinion." (H.L. Mencken.) The rest of us learn for ourselves (think for ourselves) even if
it isn't always popular. Alana Bush

Please do not lose sight of what this is about. I am not backing a "Conservative" film. I am also not backing a "Liberal" film. I am not backing an anti-drilling film, or a pro-drilling film.
I am backing the following. It is the story I have heard on a daily basis for the last 2 1/2 years. It is too important to label this as a general ideological us against them effort.
"There are two sides of every story and then there is the truth."
"FrackNation is the film that will tell the truth about fracking. "
"People across the US told us that everything we had heard about fracking was wrong. They say that anti-fracking campaigns, one-sided media coverage and moratoriums and bans have damaged the lives of thousands of people who are now desperate to have their voices heard."
I do think that the filmakers will take these comments, and evaluate their funding strategies. I am sure it is an ongoing process. They are learning too.

I like this kick starter idea. It enables us to support causes in which we believe. It's a voluntary contrubution.
This is so much more palatable than giving a government bureacrat a proxy to distribute my tax dollars. Solyndra is but one example of my involuntary contribution to a cause in which I do not believe.
If we could be given tax credits for these donations, the most productive causes would be the most successful. Furthermore, it might just eliminate the current practice of our tax dollars being handed to companies as subsidies with a portion being returned to politicians as campaign donations, as it appears was the case with Solyndra (to name just one).

It's fund raising for a very worthwhile film. it's not begging by any means. Simply stating the facts and trying to max out the amount raised. Anti-fracking films are being funded at a significantly higher level and to make sure this point of view cuts throughout the clutter they need to continue to raise money. If you can up your commitment please do. I just did.

As someone looking to fund a project myself, I think these updates and final push for funds is absolutely necessary. These guys are on the front lines creating work that help us--they deserve all that they can get. And besides, this is a free country right? Ask and ask more, and those that want to give, give more.
Creator Brian Garst on April 5, 2012
What weird responses. They're saying thank you and making a last push before the donation period closes out. The idea that conservatives don't ask for money (they're not begging) for worthy projects is absurd, but that attitude is probably why liberals are so much better at raising funds and influencing culture. What could possibly be not conservative about privately funded, voluntary donation projects?
Creator Winston Chow on April 5, 2012
Whoa, people, please chill out. Producing anything isn't easy especially on a limited budget. If you already donated, then tell others about this project and encourage them to think about donating. That's it. Have a nice day.

Sorry, I mean hear, hear!

Here here. Also, I didn't think the emotional music on the introductory video did any favours.

I agree with Michael E. Shaffer. Just ge the film out: it will sell itself! Thank you.
Creator Michael E. Shaffer on April 5, 2012
I gotta be honest. These videos begging for money are starting to turn me off. Conservative's don't beg. They make do with what they have and turn out a better product than their "Lib/Prog" opponent.
