@Robert Holmes: I understand the costs of production, or at least I did historically. I had researched GK2 in particular and I know it cost a movie budget which was unheard of in those days. That a major game often costs 1-2 million I am very aware.
I suspect you are also frustrated with this publisher. At least one public comment expresses weariness at this, who I'd quote but semi-explicit wording is involved. But he is expressing what many others are thinking but may have failed to say publicly about MGX. Perhaps passing on these various comments will get this "camera shy" publisher the message; that its hurting your PR, and will certainly hurt theirs.
Creator Sean on June 8
The vast majority of kickstarter projects I've backed have yet to materialize anything. Those that have have delivered pretty solid results. A spot check on the progress of them seems to reveal some that are shaping up well, some that aren't shaping up to anything at all, and one or two that seem to have gone dark. This one, however, has been by far the most interesting to watch.
I know they've released a kids game for a platform I don't have that is a separately financed work and made good on the (digital) backerstuff excluding the finished game(s). There are the PDF updates, which indicate decent progress on Moebius, and certainly make the game look well worth playing given the limited view they present - content but little context besides location and chapter information.
Then there's MGX.
... ... ...
I tire of this cocktease and holding. It either is or isn't "I dare not speak his name." I don't rightly care anymore. This is the game I've been most interested in, also separately funded but also promised like the dog game. I'd assume it's pretty far along, having been talked about for so long, and I don't want to assume anything about the hold-up on the big announcement, but with how long it has dragged on I have to think it's a big problem. Even if that doesn't materialize or is something other than "I dare not speak his name," now I just really want to know what all the fuss was about. The whole thing has played out like a Jane Jensen authored mystery, but has yet to reach any sort of conclusion.
However things turn out the lions share of the weight is now on Moebius's shoulders. If nothing else, it should present another opportunity to explore Jane Jensen's fantastic writing, which is really what I signed up for. MGX has turned to popcorn, but the story really needs a new development.

@Blues Brother: I agree that we could have made the campaign simpler, and we would given another effort. We have tried to be wide open as things evolved in terms of potential offerings in the campaign as the complexity grew with the addition of MGX and a publishers involvement. We have also communicated in steady monthly updates and in the in person presentation at the open house ALL possible information we could without entering into lawsuit territory. We certainly wish it had been a simpler path, and that the impact of issues outside our control on MGX had not occured, and as I have mentioned we are investing much additional time and money to help mitigate them on behalf of the CSG members, with no certainty of any profit on our end. We will continue to do all we can to deliver what we beleive the CSG members would want as final products, and to give you as much visibility into the process as we can along the way.
Creator Blues Brother on May 29
one thing is for sure: the whole campaign was a mess of bad, misleading communication. I wasn't so much confused, but apparently many other people were. Oh well, I hope next time things will be laid out more clearly. :)
Creator Joseph Austin on May 29
It sure is hard to see Robert being directly accused of intentional scamming after having chatted with him online and in person a few times. *deep breath*
Creator Robert Holmes on May 29
@evolutionary: Jane and I are doing all we can to ensure that we deliver everything we have communicated as even potential rewards to our CSG members. From our perspective, that includes our desire to deliver MGX and Lola and Lucy, though we feel we have tried to be as clear as possible that those were not funded by the CSG. We have invested countless hours, a great deal of our own dollars and more to make this all happen. To give you some perspective, GK1 alone back in 1995 cost over 1 million dollars, GK2,GK3, and Grey Matter much more than that each. Whether we commited, implied, or merely intended, for us to deliver 2.5 games (as Joseph has said) on less than 400k (after fees and taxes) seems like a more than fair return to our members. Our other Kickstarter peers who have raised much more than us are only delivering one title. Our intention was and is to reward the support we have received by delivering as much as we possibly can. We hope at the end of the day, when all the products have released, that our members will feel they have received great value for their contributions. We'll continue to do all we can to make this the case

Okay, replay to my message 28th message. (not May 28...still the point remains...and I should check for replies to my comments more often...)
Creator The Evolutionary on May 28
Wow....people are making remarks at me outside the space of my original posting. Okay....let's have it: A number of people specifically asked how many games were in the offerings. The response was 2. Many people asked especially during the middle of the campaign as I remembered. I may have even asked the question myself. The answer we got back was 2 games in the cycle which was why I increased my pledge from $30 to $51 in the first place. I submit that due to answers given to the public, MGX WAS in the original Kickstarter campaign as an incentive to increase pledges. I Stress again, many people were confused and SPECIFICALLY asked and were answered in writing. Otherwise I could have simple put in the $16 ("Studio releases this CSG cycle (your choice) and gotten the same. The >1 was implied directly and it was said in writing that there were 2 releases for the first cycle. That WOULD mkae MGX in the campaign (unless there is a 3 game in the works floating around somewhere that is unknown to all).

I'm going to echo OddBall's suggestion. You guys should check out CIty Quest: A Point & Click Adventure.
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1376534446/city-quest-a-point-and-click-adventure
It's got really old school graphics. It's a combination of the Space Quest and Lesure Suit Larry. You die frequently in the game. But always in humorous ways. Plus, it's got a perverted sense of humor similar to Lesure Suit Larry.
Creator OddBall on May 13
Anyone interested in a AGI style point and click adventure, then check out City Quest!

@Bob: Yeah, I'm glad MGX is a part of KS rewards too. I don't really care when it will be delivered as long as it is someday ;). Moebius is a main focus of this project. I understand that Jane can't really do much about announcement date.
Creator Palindrome Bob-XSF-I'm in AGL589-AA496 on April 29
@The Evolutionary: technically speaking MGX isn't part of this Kickstarter. That means the publisher is in charge of everything apart from the game design. In short, Pinkerton Road is doing the game, and the publisher everything else. I'm just thankful for Jane being able to put it into the Kickstarter-rewards, which in no way influenced the tier I'm at.
@queenkate: You should have received an e-mail around April 1 for the Alpha information.

Hi - altho I'll update my email as requested when I opened this today, it has not changed and I do get project reports. However, did contribute at the $100 level and see in most recent update that Alpha A for Moebious went out for testing but I didn't get anything. Just trying to track and make sure I'm in the loop I thought I was in. So excited by developments, please let me know.
Creator The Evolutionary on April 28
Hey ANOTHER delay on MGX? Okay, this is getting stretch a bit thin. This publisher, basically I'm starting to feel we've been sold out to this publisher since we don't even know what it is. I'm sure I'm not along in saying that it gets weary hearing the same "waiting approval" bit . I won't be backing any future projects if I find a 3rd party publisher is involved since they seem to own it more than the backers do and we at the $50+ level were told we paid for both.I'm getting a bad feeling about this.
Creator Rinu on April 18
@Paskarl: Ah, it seems like I missed a memo. Okay, thanks for tellng me :).
Creator Paskarl on April 5
@Rinu: Jane herself said that it´s ok that we post a pic or two.
She doesn´t want let´s play videos or every single piece screenshoted for the rest of the non-backer-world.
Creator Rinu on April 5
@Industrial Scribe: No, it hasn't been announced yet. I used it as an example of another thing Jane Jensen explicitly asked us to not share publicly when it will be revealed to backers.
Creator Industrial Scribe on April 4
Errr... I'm a backer and I don't know anything about MGX? Has it been announced on the forums yet?
Isn't it the same engine from the "Cognition" guys over at Phoenix Online Studios. They do good stories and the still artwork is good but the lighting and animation is quite crude in general and the models deform quite seriously.
I would of preferred any cut scenes to be purely illustrated stills but I guess the budget was to tight.
Hopefully more care will be taken with Moebius cut scenes but I think the engine and the small budget are going to be telling. We are here for the story and the puzzles more than the art anyway.
Creator Rinu on April 2
Do you really need to post private project information on public Comments, people? Will you post here a name of MGX here before the official announcement too? I don't have any issue with it myself but talk about slap in the developers' face if they marked it as backer-only.
Creator Muhammad Sabeeh Ali on April 2
I agree that MAlachi needs some work. everything else looks good.
Creator Jassen Payen on April 2
I agree with Paskarl! I think the environments are looking gorgeous, and is a promising sign of things to come, however Malachi's face is disturbing. Please can his face be worked on. I have mentioned this in my feedback along with some other suggestions. Best of luck Team Pinkerton!! :)
Creator waheed rahman on April 1
Enjoying the Alpha, it is esthetically pleasing and cant wait for the final build, one issue with the inventory system though would like to be able to use scroll feature on mouse to go through items that would make it much efficient and i know its just an alpha built but can you give the main character a neck :) right now it looks like his head is attached to his torso directly and when he is sitting and talking to the husband his shoulder look way strange but again i know its an alpha build so looking great and thanks again for the awesome game this is turning out to be :)
Creator Paskarl on April 1
Like the alpha so far.
Even there was no puzzle to solve so far, just talking.
The interface is nice and all looks good in 1920*1200.
But pls work on the face impressions of Malachi when he´s talking.
Looks like Mr. Ed!!

Data points are pieces of evidence that add to your list of possibities. I had the game tell me it had enough info as well but I think it may be a bug. I think it triggers before you have enough evidence. The last data point I got was in the dance studio.

and can you elaborate more about what data points are?

The game told me I have enough info before I posted that question. I don't know why but it doesn't work
I have plenty of categories and I can't do anything but turn off others

@Ohad
You have to collect all 12 data points before you can analyse the data even though the person that matches becomes obvious after about 4 data points. However the last data point you collect is the most significant.
