WHAT THE HECK IS WATERTRUCK?
Watertruck is a 6 minute Sci-Fi drama based in the not-so-distant future in the American southwest. It's about 2 war vets returning home and how they each take separate paths to overcome their violent past. Years after returning stateside, an environmental disaster causes their paths to cross again, this time on opposite sides of the moral compass. Will compassion overcome human nature?
WHY AM I ASKING YOU TO INVEST IN MY IDEA?
My goal is to finish my film. All the shooting and editing is done. Now I'm in the long and sometimes painful, but often rewarding process of visual effects. I'm doing almost everything myself. There are certain aspects of the visual effects pipeline I need help with financially... mostly rotoscoping, which is the process of removing certain parts of an image sequence frame by frame. I will need to hire artists to help me with this process.
I also need to finance the website which will be the main marketing platform for the film. Not only will the website have clips from the film and merchandise, but also a large part of the site is committed to educating the user in social and environmental issues used as backdrops in the film.
BUT WHO REALLY CARES AND WHAT'S DIFFERENT ABOUT THIS PROJECT?
Why is Watertruck different from other short Sci-Fi Dramas? There are three main subjects touched in the film:
1. WAR AND THE EFFECT ON SOLDIERS RETURNING HOME
2. FRESH WATER SHORTAGES
3. BIOLOGICAL, CHEMICAL AND NUCLEAR WASTE STORAGE CONCERNS
These social and environmental issues affect us all in some way. I'm not trying to change the world with my film or hit the viewer over the head with these issues. In the film, these issues are a subtle backdrop. I am, however, trying to raise awareness of these issues using a website as the main platform.
WHY SHOULD YOU INVEST?
Lack of knowledge and information on these important issues is a problem. Most websites, periodicals and video presentations of these topics are stale and very academic. My goal is to get the younger generation to like my film, then go to the website to learn about these problems and inspire them to make a difference.
