An independent exhibition for NASA's Johnson Space Centre of photography, film and archive of the Apollo astronauts and lunar missions
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the end of NASA's moon landings, we've been invited to create an amazing exhibition of photographs, documentary film and archive at the Johnson Space Center in Houston.
Based around the film "Moonbug", the exhibition will include outstanding portraits by top photographer Steve Pyke MBE of NASA's astronauts and the team behind Apollo, screenings of Nichola Bruce's award-wining documentary film, as well as key items from the Fairley Archive of Space Exploration.
To accompany the project we will be producing a beautiful, limited edition 112-page book of Steve's photographs, together with selected images of original NASA photography within the Fairley Archive, as well as postcards, posters, signed prints of the photographs and signed copies of both the film and soundtrack.
Nichola Bruce's documentary "Moonbug" has already won a Special Jury REMI award at the Houston International Film Festival in 2011. The film has a haunting soundtrack by leading electronic musician Matt Johnson - "The The" - and chronicles Pyke's odyssey to capture the pioneering astronauts in an array of outstanding profile portraits.
Accompanying Steve's portraits will be a fascinating display of archive material amassed by the late Peter Fairley in his years covering the moonshots as Science Editor of Independent Television News.
To host the exhibition, we need your support to consolidate and crate the work for the exhibition and publish the book and other items accompanying it.
