William Slichter has built upon a background in Fine Arts to emerge as an important storyteller and creator of new worlds, much in the tradition of Hieronymous Bosch, F. W. Murnau, and Dennis Potter. His undergraduate work included the study of Sculpture at the Kansas City Art Institute and The University of Illinois. After earning a Masters of Fine Arts degree from Southern Illinois University, Bill relocated to New York City, where he worked with the Reginald and Warrington Hudlin on a variety of music video projects, while also continuing to pursue his own work in Sculpture and Painting. “Flourtown” is Bill’s first short film, which combined over 500 of his original paintings with live-action footage, and included the efforts over 100 artisans and craftspeople in the design and construction of properties, miniatures, wardrobe and scenic elements, both practical and virtual. William Slichter is also the recipient of the 2002 and 2009 Jerome Media arts Grant and the 2008 Bush Artists Fellowship.
