Posted project update #26A couple more weeks til this baby is DONE
Can you believe it?!
On April 21st we will be submitting our movie to festivals & a sales agent we have our eye on. I can't even tell you how amazing it feels to be almost completely done LOCKED IN A GARAGE BAND.
Sound Fun
Jen is off to Vancouver today to do the final 2 days of ADR (where actors come in and say a few lines of dialogue that cues up exactly to how their mouths are moving on screen - it's really cool & very difficult to get right!). And our sound designer, Andres Santana is working hard to get all the special sound stuff filled in (you know, the birds that tweet when the garage door is open, the sound of the door closing, the feet stomping...that kind of thing).
Over the past couple of months, our brother, Garett Westcott has been composing score for the movie. He's rocking it now, with just a couple more pieces to fill in. My favourite song so far is "Meadow Goes Berserk." You'll see/hear what I mean when you get to see the movie on the big screen. (Soon my friends, soon!)
And in the meantime, Steve Collins is rocking out the contracts with all the bands on our soundtrack too. We'll be able to announce the bands once all the contracts are in.
Colour Fun
Jeremy Klassen has been hired to do all the colour fun. It's awesome. The RED shoots such gorgeous footage! Seriously, it's a beauty with thanks to Jeremy's keen eye for colour detail.
AND FINALLY - A BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!
With the power of twitter, we've managed to add Scott Gordon to our team. He's doing the opening title credits, and you can check out his work here. Scott has done the DVD menus for a tonne of movies & tv shows over the last 8 years, including Kick-Ass, 3:10 to Yuma and Weeds. He's making the first couple of minutes of our movie so frikkin' awesome. So excited to show you!
We'll update you again as soon as the movie is complete & let you know when the next round of rewards are being shipped out. WOOHOO!
As always, thank you!
Victoria

Posted project update #25Picture is Locked!
Just a quick update to let you know that today Jen locked the picture with our fantabulous editor, Lee Rothenflue, down in Austin Texas. For the past 6 months or so, Jen & Lee have been editing from their computers miles apart, but last week Jen flew down to work on the final, nitty-gritty details and get the picture locked.
Jen will fly home tomorrow with the edited movie, and then we head into colour correction and sound mixing fun! We're sending the contracts out to the bands this week and should be able to announce our soundtrack to you in the next few weeks. They are AMAZING. I've actually been listening to our soundtrack in my car for the past few months and I'm still not sick of it, so it's that good! All indie bands, with a perfect mix of sounds for our little movie. Plus, we hired Steve Collins to help us as the Music Supervisor, after he approached us last year when he saw this very kickstarter campaign. He's done a fabulous job. I honestly don't know what we would have done without him.
It's an incredible feeling to have come this far, and I hope you know that YOU brought us here. Thank you. I only hope that you will enjoy the movie as much as we do.
Will keep you posted on the next steps! Exciting times ahead my friends.

Posted project update #18The Final Day
Post Commentfrom Lucas, who posted this update today to the first campaign
This is the update where I'm supposed to get all teary-eyed and profound. Or, where I wow you with "One More Thing...". But I don't have any of that right now. There's no big, epic, raging party at the finish line, no balloons falling from the ceiling, no confetti, nothing grand at all. At least, not that I know of.
And that's totally fine.
I'm not even on a set today. I'm going to go down to Santa Monica and hang out with Dustin Pearlman and his couch will be the final AYWR couch. Simple as that. The updates will keep coming as I catch up on everything, but the road trip is over. I guess you could say now that we're heading into post-production. So it's not like this is just going away.
But I think what gets lost a lot in talking about AYWR is how important the community has been in quite literally keeping this thing afloat. Ultimately, this is your project and a document of how you collectively operate. I'm just the guy going from place to place to see it first-hand.
Without you, AYWR doesn't work. Without you, it's nothing.Over on the blog, there's a version of this same post where I asked people to post their reactions to AYWR's final day under the hashtag #AYWRfeb18, and I'm compiling a bunch of those there. I'd love to see yours.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. It's been a hell of a year.
