Posted project update #13Transfigurations Wins National Book Award!
I'm very excited to announce that my book "Transfigurations" was just awarded the National Independent Publishers GLBT Non-Fiction Book of the Year Gold Award!!
It was only last year at this time that I was raising funds to print the book...and now six months after its publication it has been recognized on a national level. Thank you again to all you wonderful donors who made this a reality!
Happy Spring!

Posted project update #9Update on Transfigurations!
Post CommentDear Donors,
Please forgive the mass email. You all have been so supportive and wonderful, whether through the creation of the project, the touring exhibit or raising funds for the book publication. Thank you all!
I wanted to let you know about some stuff that is happening:
The book should be arriving to me in August. All of you who have donated at certain levels or pre-ordered, will receive your book via mail, soon afterwards.
San Jose State University has ordered the book as a required textbook for their Gender Studies courses, and professor Susan Murray will be writing a curriculum to accompany the book.
I have been asked to be one of the keynote speakers at Gender Odyssey in Seattle, August 5 -7, where we will official launch the book to the public.
I'm being honored at the BayMec fundraiser (a GLBT political action group of the Bay Area) as a local "hero" at the Fairmont in San Jose on Sept 24. I believe the keynote speaker will be a representative from the White House. So, that's all very exciting!
Book signings and press coverage will happen in Santa Cruz in late September. The first book signing event in Santa Cruz will be at the Capitola Book Café on September 29.
The second signing will be at Book Shop Santa Cruz on Oct 11.
More info to follow closer to the time.
You can now pre-order the book at www.7angelspress.com, and it will be shipped to you when it arrives in August. Books are going to go fast, so reserve your copy now, if you are so inclined.
I send you all much love and gratitude for making this dream come true!

Posted project update #8Transfigurations goes to the printer!
Dear wonderful donors and supporters,
I'm thrilled to report that the book has gone to the printer overseas. The designer and I worked tirelessly to get it done within an 8-week period. It's going to be beautiful. Rounds of proofing start in the next three weeks, and books will arrive, hot off the press, by late July.
Spread the word that both the softback and limited edition hardcover are now available for purchase at www.7angelspress.com
Thank you so much for all you have done to make this possible. Thank you cards are going out this week, if you sent me your address, and books will be sent to the appropriate donors in early August.
Cheers for now,
Jana

Congratulations Jana!!! I hope you have many sales and that it is a great success for you!!
I had an intersting time for the past 3 days. I took part in the National Center for Transgender
Equality's Lobby Days in Washington D.C. I got to meet with 2 representatives and 2 senators yesterday and deliver my message.I think it went quite well!! I was lobbying for the passage of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act.
I also got to go to a reception at the National Press Club on Monday night!! I got to meet leaders of many LGBT organizations and establish contacts with them.Pamela

Posted project update #7Almost at 12k!
Post CommentDear Donors,
With 11 days to go we are just a few dollars shy of the $12k goal. Thank you all so much for making this happen and reaching almost 150% of the original goal! Isn't it amazing?! Tell your friends they can pre-order the book for a $50 donation. All money given will go to printing costs, the book designer who has donated his time, distribution to libraries and schools, etc. With much gratitude,
