Posted project update #9Check out the costume designs for The Short Fall on our brand new Toy Box blog!
Post CommentHey everyone,
When we sent out our official last update on Kickstarter, a lot of people asked us if there was a way they could continue to follow our progress, as well as stay in the loop on the behind-the-scenes looks into producing Off Off Broadway theatre. In response, we decided to start a tumblr page where we will be able post important updates and exciting information as we get closer and closer to opening The Short Fall on June 3rd. You all are the reason that we're able to produce this play—we'd love to keep you involved.
To inaugurate this new blog, our costume designer Kate R. Mincer has graciously allowed us to post the beautiful and wonderfully detailed character sketches that she has created for The Short Fall. You'll be able to see how, even before the production reaches the stage, our talented designers are able to realize this world in their heads and help us bring it to life in front of you.
You can check out the designs here:

Decide to follow us on tumblr and you can expect many more cool updates to come.
Thanks again,
James, Jon, Ryan, Mike

Posted project update #8Final Kickstarter Update
Dear family, friends, and supporters of Toy Box Theatre Company,Post CommentCan you believe it's already been six weeks? It seems like just yesterday that we launched our Kickstarter campaign to raise $20,000. Now here we are, two days from the end and almost 25% over our goal.
We can’t thank you enough.
As the clock ticks down on our Saturday deadline, we’d like to remind every one of you that this success is due entirely to your individual efforts. Each of us would like to express our deep personal gratitude. We’d also like to thank you on behalf of all of the actors, musicians, and designers that we will be able to employ as a direct result of your support.
Our new schedule of two-show seasons starts this June with the premiere of David Caudle’s The Short Fall. Beginning right away with this production, expect some great things. We intend to keep our part of the bargain and show you that your donations went to the right cause. You will see us raise the bar with each of our productions, constantly seeking to expand the boundaries of Off Off Broadway theatre, challenge and entertain our audiences, and create a home for talented and hard-working artists.
Thank you for helping us get this far, and we hope you stick around for the rest of the journey.
Yours,
Jon, Mike, Ryan, and James Toy Box Theatre Company

Posted project update #7Dream cast for The Short Fall? Done!
Post CommentWe are happy to announce that we've cast the entire ensemble for The Short Fall. In the course of the nine seasons that Toy Box Theatre Company has been around we've learned that no matter how much care and hard work we put in, our productions are only as good as our cast of actors. If the cast we've just finished assembling today is any evidence, this production is going to be amazing.
How did we get this incredible cast? When possible, Toy Box likes to keep things in the family. So, returning from our fall production of Woyzeck, we are lucky to have the wonderful actors Ron Bopst, Ryan Reilly, and our very own company member Ryan Colwell. (Each of the Ryans have appeared in two other Toy Box productions. This will be Ron's fourth!) And new to Toy Box, but someone whose performances we've admired with our friends at Operating Theater, is the very talented Beth Stine.
Some roles, however, require going outside our circles to find someone new and unexpected. This was the case for the crucial roles of Tabby and her teenage daughter Louvre. Out of over 900 submissions, we auditioned 40 actresses last Friday at the Alliance of Resident Theatres (ART/NY) facilities in midtown Manhattan. After a very long but enjoyable day we found our Tabby and Louvre. So we welcome to our cast Dori Legg and Kally Duling.
Rehearsals start May 2nd, and we couldn't be more excited about moving forward and unveiling this production for you in June.
Thank you all so much for your continued support. Your generosity is a huge inspiration.
Next up: production team!

Posted project update #4Today is matching day!
Post CommentWe're going to include our earlier post below, but we just wanted to make it clear.
As of midnight of this morning of Thursday, March 31st, we have raised $14,020. For the next 24 hours, anything up to $16,020 will be matched dollar for dollar.
Here's the earlier post for the details:
Friends, family, and supporters of Toy Box -We have some great news: We just received word from a company named E Allora that for one day only—on this Thursday, March 31st—they have pledged to match any donation to our Kickstarter campaign all the way up to $2,000! That means that in the 24 hours from 12:00 a.m. this Thursday to 12:00 a.m. Friday, any money that you or anyone else donates to our project, E Allora will match dollar for dollar up to $2000.This is a huge opportunity for us. If with all of your generous support we can make it to $2000, then we will end the day $4000 dollars closer to our goal.
This is only going to happen once, so please help us get the word out.If you haven't had a chance to donate yet, this is the time.If you have already donated - thank you so much. It's your generosity that helped us come to attention of the wonderful people at E Allora. You've shown them that we're a cause worth caring about. As you know, Kickstarter donations can be as little as $15; on this Thursday your $15 becomes $30 (and your $500 becomes $1000).Just a reminder, we are a registered non-profit and, as always, all donations are 100% tax deductible. Thanks so much,Jon, Mike, Ryan, James -
