Posted project update #14Still chuggin' along! On the home stretch...need the Heavy-Hitters now!
First of all, I'd like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has pledged so far. I haven't sent an update for a while because I've been overwhelmed with, well, to make a long story short.... life. But, now I really need to "kick" into high gear, if I want to make this fundraising thing actually happen. I had a feeling it would play out this way...
So, now, I'm attempting to reach out to the "heavy-hitters" because, if you think of it, I only need 13 more pledges of $1,000 each. That shouldn't be too hard right?
So, if you happen to know any "heavy-hitters"..I'd absolutely love it if you'd copy/paste & email them the plea I've pasted below. I know, I know, I've already asked you for YOUR $, now I'm asking you to do MORE?? Well, you don't have to... but if you know of someone who might be interested in pledging $1000, please pass it along...and thanks again, I really appreciate your help.
=================
Hello,
I'm producing/directing a rockumentary film called
All My Plastic Melon Dreams- The story of Phish & their Phans-
A generational coming-of-age documentary: Why we were there then & where we are now.
I'm contacting you because time is running out and I'm attempting to contact the "heavy-hitters" so I can reach my fundraising goal by the (rapidly approaching) deadline of September 20!
I only need 13 more pledges...of $1000 each to reach my goal.Your (fantastic) incentives for a $1000 pledge are:
• GOLD-level on-screen-credit for you and/or your business
• Be interviewed/included on the final DVD's Bonus Menu Section
• Large-sized Direct Links for you and/or your business on AMPMD website & any promotional material
• FRONT ROW SEAT at film debut
• FREE DVD of the completed documentary
• regular status updates of the production's progressPlease go to http://tinyurl.com/lcn4n7 (or www.allmyplasticmelondreams.info) to find out all about this film, my background and to make a pledge! Thanks for your time and consideration.

Posted project update #13big guns / collaboration? / blinders
Thanks so much to the recent, generous pledges. really appreciate it. I'll be working on hittin up the 'big guns' in the next few weeks...since time sure is flying (and I've still got a big chunk to raise).
I've also been attempting to speak directly with Jason at Red Light Management, hoping to see if there's any interest in making this a collaboration. I've got to get the band's approval/blessing/commitment, etc...if this baby's really gonna get off the ground. crossing my fingers that they're just really busy with the current tour and now officially 'blowing me off'.
A bunch of other script things are in the works, and I'm considering documenting a cross country trip to california for phish's "festival8". I've already got a ride offer from this guy who is driving a "karaoke caravan" something that sounds like it could either be the best time of my life or well, the worst...
anyway, thanks again, to all of your generous pledges and support. Still got my blinders on!

Posted project update #12Thanks to the latest backers! • great new connections being made
Thanks so much for the last batch of generous pledges. Obviously, I still have a long, long way to go to reach the 15K mark- I'm keeping the blinders on and forging ahead.
I've got a bunch of people to get back in touch with regarding interviews and collaborations, etc...
It's tricky to keep ahead of the game with all the followups and communications combined with actual steps necessary to coordinate work on the production work. But progress is definitely being made and it's all very exciting.
Well, so, THANK YOU for your very generous pledges, especially KA! and PLEASE pass on the kickstarter link (http://tinyurl.com/lcn4n7) to as many people as you can.

Posted project update #11First $1000 in pledges! • script work • interviews • "kite & string" scene for trailer
Still a long way to go but I haven't really "pulled out the big guns" for the full blown viral campaign yet. I'm very appreciative of everyone's help... I'll be spreading the word even farther and wider over the next few days. Of course, if you can think of any other people to forward this kickstarter project to/ that would be super...every little bit will help us reach OUR goal..which, of course, is to be able to complete PHASE ONE of this documentary.
I've been workin on the script and the shooting/interview schedule. I'll also be working on details for the "kite & string" scene for the new trailer- Location scouting for this scene which involves a babbling brook, green grass, a meadow, old farm fence, lush hillside & a hilltop meadow - filled with SHEEP! If you happen to know of a contact/place that fits this description - be sure to let me know;) Ive got a place / contact in mind - just gotta get more ducks in a row..
ok, well, that's all for now- I was away in adirondacks lat week- so I'm back to the grindstone this week! Thanks again and spread the good word!

Posted project update #10THANK YOU to the new backers / news to report
I whole bunch has happened over the last week. After having a great correspondence with a potential cinematographer ...I realized I could use some of what I wrote to him as an update for all of you: Here's some nibbles & bits:
• entire audio of both interviews (approx 45 minutes)has been transcribed and formatted into a script template. I had about 10 volunteers go through all of the audio (how we initially got in touch)
• digitized and edited the 40min Hampshire Interview Footage
• digitized end edited the 9min Pearl Interview Footage
• digitized Coventry traffic jam footage
• redited the trailer to make it a little more fancy
• refining the website on a weekly daily basis - still need to add a page recognizing all of your fine contributions - it'll have to wait til after the 10th, unfortunately.
• raised approx $700 in last 6 days on kickstarter.com without even having launched my full-out campaign
• whole bunch of blog-interviews lined up for the Butterroom, YEP, Phish.net, plus about three more.
• using twitter & facebook and linkedin are all really helping to get the word out
• got another article with springfield, ma's masslive.com online newspaper.
• had an invester from a documentary firm email today showing great interest
• fbooked with "stickemup" promotions who does great viral advertising stuff...I know the owner-lives in the area..
• just found out another "my-best friends' best from highschool" connection - He holds a great position with red light management. Major good news for the effort of getting "my foot in the door" (I hope)...once the official trailer has been completed.
• setting a mtg. date with cinematographer & scriptwriter to details of shooting new footage which will be included in the trailerso, there's a bunch going on and your pledges are helping others to realize that this is a serious endeavor ...golsh darn it all. I'm hoping to reach 10% of the campaign by he end of next week.
I'm trying to spead this link around as much as possible without sounds like a broken record or self-promoting freakazoid...
plus, i'm supposed to be on vacation but we decided to leave early tomorrow am instead of this afternoon because of all the rain...anyway, i digress. Thanks again and keep spreading the link around to as many people as you can. I'd even suggest a small link at the bottom of your signature (if you use one)...that way, you don't even have to think about remembering...I find that works very well...just a hint...Thanks-Tom
