Thank You for your generosity, however we did not achieve our goal!

Working on The Good Food Factory is always an interesting endeavor. I always learn. I always grow. I am always surprised and entertained by where the next opportunity or direction sprouts up.

A few months ago a fan and friend had suggested that if we were looking to fundraise for Season 1 we should try a little website called Kickstarter. Kickstarter, if you aren’t familiar, is a site that ‘crowd sources’ funds for a variety of creative projects. You pitch the site your idea and how much you want to raise. If they like it, they put you on and you are all set up to start accepting donations to make your dream come true.

I was immediately drawn to this idea. The Good Food Factory sometimes can seem a bit insular. I work on it at home. It goes out into the airwaves. Every so often I Skype with someone or I have a speaking engagement or cooking class. For the most part, though, it’s me on my computer trying to make dreams come true. So many people had said to me over so many conversations how much they loved the idea, believed in the mission and/or wished they could help. When I heard we got accepted to Kickstarter, there was no doubt in my mind that I knew enough people that would chip in $15 and in no time we’d have enough money to begin shooting again.

And here is where the adventure comes in… we didn’t get the money. You see, with Kickstarter it’s all or nothin’. If you don’t raise the full amount? All the donated money goes right back to the people that pledged it. I liked this set up. I was fearless in our goals and honestly thought there was no way we’d come up short. But, I was wrong. We barely scratched the surface. We got $3,315 out of the $49,825 that we needed. And now, that $3,315 will never leave the generous pockets that donated to us.

I’d first like to say Thank You to all those 38 amazing people that pledged their hard earned money. Every single time someone donated I was so overjoyed. I will never forget your generosity and your willingness to help kids, and teach them that healthy food is fun. You are the exact group that I had in mind when I signed up for Kickstarter. If only everyone thought like you do, or was able to give like you gave.

In an age of big business, mass conglomerations, big box stores and huge media companies, I was not just rooting for myself, but rooting for the little guy, the underdog. I thought “Geesh! Wouldn’t it be GRAND if we THE PEOPLE made this thing work?”

“Wouldn’t it be FANTASTIC to be a TV show that was created for a GOOD reason? That gave us something purposeful? That left us feeling happy after we watched it? That taught us something? And wouldn’t it be a real kick in the pants that we didn’t need any big company or studio executive to give us a green light? That all we needed was US?”

And I still think that. That’s never going to change.

I’ve already seen in my imagination where this show goes and I already know it lives to be bigger and better and funnier and makes a whole bunch of kids love healthy cooking and eating.

What I don’t know is how the heck I’m going to get the first season made.

    But therein lies the adventure…

    xo Amanda

Hey Amanda: If it is willed that your show will continue it will! Dayna & I love you and what you are doing and remain in staunch support of this journey.

Next year at this time, we hope to see you looking back with great success at how it all began. We are in sincere prayer for the GFF!

        Love,
        the schrex

The Good Food Factory - Kids for Peace-Za!

We figured the best way to get you excited to donate for Season One is to tell you a bit about the awesome episodes we have planned!

In this video Amanda explains the episode "Kids for Peace-Za"

Kids for Peace-Za is the story of two kids who had a misunderstanding at school and they want to be friends again. The Good Food Factory is happy to help whip up some Peace-Za (whole wheat pizza with marinara, fresh mozzarella and broccoli toppings in a peace sign) to bring them back together, but shouldn't they also go to a Kids for Peace meeting to learn about forging peace? By the end of the episode, everyone is full of pizza crust and love. Just another day at the office for the Good Food Factory.
Help us make this episode and MORE!

    A message from the kids!

I asked some kids from the Boys & Girls Club to talk about cooking, healthy eating and what they'd like to see on The Good Food Factory.
I'll be sharing plenty of that video soon, but in the meantime, here is their most important message.

    Enjoy!
