It looks great! I'll have to say, though, you are one brave son of a gun. And a teacher, no less. Are you going to show it off to your students?

Probably on my last day here. There doesn't seem to be an issue with showing ink here at the school, but I don't want to disrupt class to do it. =)

    KantCon 2012 Layout

We are happy to finally announce the layout for KantCon 2012!

As you can see, things have shaken up a bit, and we've expanded!  We're now going to be in the good old Capitol Federal Conference Room and the adjoining atrium!

If you come to KantCon 2012, you'll be able to get yourself a treat at the Concessions area, as normal, pick up some KantCon merchandise from Registration or the Minion HQ, and shop at one of our six vendors:  Gamer Ground, Secret Skeleton Miniatures, Black Blade Publishing, Raging Wolf Armoury, Silver Gryphon Games, and Sentinels of the Multiverse creators Greater Than Games!

You will be able to check out a game from the Gamer's Haven Game Library, and play it at one of the many open game tables, or one of the ten Board/Card Game Tables.

As you can see, we've loaded the convention with nine RPG tables, ten Board/Card Game Tables, three Miniatures Tables, and four Open Game Tables.  Remember, if there is no event scheduled for a table during a particular slot, then it's considered an Open Table for that time.

You'll also notice at the north end of the map is a Kids Area!  The new Kids' Track of events is premiering at KantCon 2012, and it's designed to be events for young children and accompanying parents!  We'll have a post that details this later.

Also, as you can see, we will have on-site Event Registration this year!  You'll be able to sign up for events just like you're signing up for them at pre-registration!  Just head over to Event Registration, and sign up for a scheduled event!

Additionally, we have access to several projection screens this year, and, instead of a constant stream of SWAG winners as with last year, we will be posting the winning ticket numbers on one of the projection screens on the western wall.

On the northern wall, you will be able to see a photostream of the images recorded at KantCon 2012.

On the south wall, next to the concessions area, you will be able to see a listing of events and their locations for the next slot.

We'll have more announcements coming very soon, and we hope to see you at KantCon 2012!

Many Things Ordered ... and Merchandise at KantCon 2012

It's been quiet here for a bit, and here's an update!

    Dice

The KantCon d6 dice have been ordered, as have the matching dice sets, which will include a non-custom d4, d6, d8, d10, 10's d10, d12, and d20.  Of course, these dice sets will be going to those who qualify for the stretch rewards, but we will have extras that we will be selling at Registration and Minion HQ for $10 a set.

Everyone who comes to KantCon will get one of the d6's, and additional KantCon 2012 d6's can be purchased for $0.50 each.

    Backpacks

Speaking of Stretch Rewards, we have also ordered the above backpacks as well.  Unfortunately, we will not have extras to sell at the convention, so these are exclusive to those who qualified for the stretch rewards!

    Mugs

We should be getting the mugs in very soon, within the next few days, and, as with last year, we will have these for sale at the convention! You will be able to purchase one of these fine mugs for $10 at KantCon 2012, and get a free drink with it at the concessions stand!

    Messenger Bags

The messenger bags have been ordered as well, and, unlike the backpacks, we will have extras of these to sell at KantCon 2012.  So, for those of you who aren't getting one of these awesome messenger bags, you can get one at KantCon for $15.

    Portfolios

We hit a snag with the portfolios, in that the supplier we were going to go with had 2 in stock.  Not two styles, two whole bags ... so we had to go with someone else, and pay a lot more for them then we had budgeted.  Regardless, the portfolios will be in for KantCon 2012, and will go to those people who qualified for the stretch rewards.

    Jabbergluck Miniature

The Jabbergluck miniature master has made it here from Great Britain, and I have passed it on to the folks at Secret Skeleton Miniatures.  They assure me it will be in on time for KantCon 2012, but I have not heard from them on this yet ...

    Stretch Reward Shirts

The stretch reward shirts have been ordered as well, and should be here within the next two weeks.

    Other Merchandise

We will have additional merchandise available for purchase at KantCon this year, including a limited supply of the KantCon 2011 d6's and 2011 mugs can be purchased this year.

You'll be able to get the KantCon 2011 d6's for $0.50 each, and the 2011 mugs can be bought for $7 each.  Both are in a very limited supply, and once they're gone, they're gone for good!

That's about it, all!  I'll update when we have more information!

In the meantime, you can spread the word about Pre-Registration for KantCon 2012, Submit an Event for KantCon 2012, and/or Register for an Event for KantCon 2012!

Announcing the Vendors for KantCon 2012

As usual, KantCon will play host to a number of gaming vendors, and we're proud to say that each and every vendor that has joined us in 2010 and 2011 will be returning this year, with a new addition to the KantCon family ... Greater Than Games!

So, without further ado, here is the final list of vendors that will be present at KantCon 2012:

Black Blade Publishing are the current publishers of OSRIC, the Old School Roleplaying  and Index Compilation.  Allan J. Grohe Jr., co-founder of Black Blade Publishing, LLC – Allan has been playing D&D and other rpgs since 1977. Allan’s first professional gaming publication (“More for the Shadow Master”) appeared in White Wolf Magazine #11 in 1987; he has also contributed to The Unspeakable OathPyramidPolyhedron, and Dragon Magazine, among others. Allan was a co-founder of Event Horizon Productions, and has worked extensively with Biohazard Games (Blue Planet), Pagan Publishing (Call of Cthulhu publisher of Delta Green), Different Worlds Publications (Tadashi Ehara), and Pied Piper Publishing (Robert J. Kuntz). More-recent projects include editing OSRIC version 1.0 as well as Mythmere Games’ Tomb of the Iron God. Allan’s editorial and development work has contributed to winning one Origins Award, securing four Origins Award nominations, and two ENnie Award nominations.

Gamer Ground is a friendly small game retailer from St. Louis, MO.  They specialize in board games, RPG's, Magic cards, minis, dice, gaming supplies, and more.   Started as an actual store, this mom and pop shop(literally) had to close its doors a couple years ago for more time to raise their 2 kids. They now focus solely on dealing at midwest conventions.

Secret Skeleton Miniatures independently produces 25mm fantasy miniatures which are distributed exclusively through Center Stage Miniatures online store. We offer a growing product range of fantasy monsters with new releases on the horizon.

Silver Gryphon Games is the creative exploration of Ben Overmyer and Kevin Rohan. These two company founders have a total of nearly 30 years of gaming experience with an amazing array of systems, styles, and rules. With experiences ranging from war gaming to diceless systems to traditional board games and CCGs, Ben and Kevin possess incredible background and familiarity with the industry.

Greater Than Games is all about making the games that we have always wanted to play.  We love playing games, and we love our ridiculous process of game creation.  The most important thing to us is making the sorts of games we want to play available to everyone.  Our first product here at >G is Sentinels of the Multiverse, a cooperative card game in which 3 to 5 players control a team of super powered heroes battling a dastardly villain.  Sentinels of the Multiverse, or SotM, provides players with an innovative, streamlined game play experience that is easy to learn but requires strategic, team-based thinking.  The game comes with ten different heroes, allowing players to build myriad hero teams and find new ways to challenge the villains.  There are four different villains, each with unique mechanics and challenges, and four dynamic environments in which the battles take place.  This flexibility adds enormous replay value and ensures that no two SotM games will play the same.

Three Sisters Creations will be on hand to provide tasty treats and snacks for convention attendees.  They were present last year, and this year they will continue the tradition of fine baked goods, as well as supervising the all new KantCon Meal Plan.  Help support KantCon by buying treats and snacks from Three Sisters Creations!
