    Sarasota and Through Women's Eyes!

I’m excited to announce to you that our 2nd festival is going to be Sarasota!

We’re honored to be chosen to screen as part of the Through Women’s Eyes SeriesTWE is in partnership with the Sarasota Film Festival.  It is a division of UN Women and is also in partnership with Women Make Movies.  Through Women’s Eyes chooses films made primarily by women  “that increase awareness of the lives of women throughout the world.”  You can find our film on their website here:

    http://www.throughwomenseyes.com/events/events.cfm

Director, Tawny Foskett, and Producer, Laurie Rud, will be in attendance at the Sarasota Film Festival for the reception and Screening April 14th and 15th.

Variety magazine states that the Sarasota Film Festival is  “regarded by many as the acme of a regional American film fest…” and from our interactions thus far they do seem as warm and gracious to their filmmakers as we’d heard they would be.

They have a great lineup this year including Todd Solondz’s (director of Happiness and Storytelling amongst others) new film, Dark Horse.

We seem to be finding our way across the beach towns of America!  And as I’ve said before, it’s very special that the 1st festival (GSFF) is where we shot the film, and the 2nd (SFF) is where the real story took place.

    Hope to see you there!

    Love, Tawny

And the GWS cast and crew

Girls Who Smoke movie to SCREEN in Asbury Park

    Dear Supporters,

If you follow us on Facebook you may already know what I'm about to announce:

We are officially beginning the Film Festival circuit at

    THE GARDEN STATE FILM FESTIVAL

We'll be showing in the "Home Grown Shorts" category.  Our screening info is:

     6:45 pm on Saturday, March 24, 2012

It's also looking like we may be getting some local press coverage!

And, coming up, there is another festival mid-April, which I can't tell you the details on until March 20th, but stay tuned for more exciting festival news soon .

If you don't know, we now have a dedicated website for the film:

and on Facebook at: WHERE THERE'S SMOKE

Hope to see you at a Festival soon!

and Girls Who Smoke enters the Festival stage!

    Dear Wonderful Backers,

I know, you may have been wondering, are we ever going to finish this film, but, it is finally, mostly completed!  (Just a few small details and we are applying to grants for them which prevent us from being "officially done").  But, we have begun to submit to film festivals and I feel very proud of the final 15-minute film.

If you live in NYC we hope to schedule our Cast/Crew/Supporter screening in October and if we are lucky our first festivals will be that month too.  We'll be on the festival circuit all of 2012 and will keep you updated as to where it is playing near you.

I hired some great talent in the Post Production stage - thanks to your help:

    Jef Taylor - Editor

    Lucas Van Lenten - Composer

Matt Broadfoot - Sound Design, Edit and Mix

& Northern California musician, Lila Nelson, is going to let me use one of her songs over the end credits.

Those people were golden, and I could have never brought them on to help me make this film without your support.

Whereas I can't show you the final film yet, you can check out the original source material, which just got posted on The Moth's You Tube channel.  A link to Jen Hixson telling her story is on our Facebook page.

I hope you'll think I did it justice when you see the film.

    So much gratitude,

Tawnya & all the Producers and Cast and Crew of Girls Who Smoke

PS - Backer Rewards FINALLY went out last month - if you didn't receive yours or I didn't have your address and you now want to receive it- email me at my primary email: tfoskett@yahoo.com and I'll get it out to you.
