Posted project update #32Project Coaster
Post CommentHey Kickstarters,
Happy almost 1 year anniversary of the funding for the Nectar! Thanks again for your support on that project. We hope you are all loving your clamps, and enjoying many delicious beverages.
As you know, we're proud of the packaging that we created for the Nectar. It is clean, simple, and best of all- a coaster. We decided that we wanted to tell the world the story about the packaging for the Nectar, so we put together a video showing how it all comes together. Since you all have a little ownership in the project, we thought it would be cool to share the video with you. Check it out!
You can read more about the coaster project over at our website.

We've heard a couple comments about the logo being upside down. This is but an illusion! The product is packaged upside down to show the size (which is laser etched on the bottom of the clamp.) When you install it with the size on the bottom, and the lip on the top, you'll find that the lovely SWARM logo is right side up.

Posted project update #30Back from etching
Hey Kickstarters,
Quick update- we got the clamps back from the laser etcher today, and they look great! They are still working on levers, and we hope to get those on Monday. In the meantime, we're going to be building up the bolted versions this weekend, and shipping on Monday. All you who ordered just Nectars should get them next week!

That clamp is lying on its back. See how the barrel hole is on the right, while the others are on the left?

We actually had to use 2 different anodizers. Got the green ones back this morning. The 4 other colors should be back Tuesday morning. We'll post them as soon as we get them.

Posted project update #26Revised bolted clamp style
Post CommentHey Kickstarter,
Two updates in one day may seem excessive, but we have good news. We've modified the design slightly for the bolt on version.
Originally, the bolt on version was threaded directly into the aluminum. We did extensive testing, and found that it was plenty strong (for you manufacturing geeks, we used a process called thread forming). The curvature of the back side of the clamp never really sat right with us. After many sketches, and consulting with the machine shop, we decided to modify the shape a bit, and pop the barrel pin into the bolted version.
With this design, the bolted Nectar is super strong. You will be able to clamp it down with the proper death grip without any concern for stripping the threads. And mechanically, allowing the threads to rotate slightly will decrease the stress on the system so you never have to worry about a long term failure. This is a major upgrade, and we're confident that you'll love it!
